The basic install does not require any wire cutting. You just use T Taps . I did not get the lights and horn hooked up but they are not needed for the remote doorlocks to work with the $13 ebay kit. I hooked up a 12v buzzer but its hard to hear it.

Great kit. I put one in Saturday and it took about an hour. Didn't even have to program the remotes! Best $120.00 Ive spent in a long time!

I reviewed the pdf file. However, it does not have figures indicating location of connectors. How easy is it to identify the correct connector one has to use (e.g., how would I know connector C11--shape?)? I wouldn't necessarily balk at installing this in my 2019 Taco SR, but then I don't want to tap into an incorrect wire.

I could follow the instructions very easy. If you don't feel comfortable doing this then i would take it to a shop.

    EDIT:2017 Tacoma Sr
Figured out the problem. I went with wire color instead of pin placement. Went back through and ran a volt meter to everything as well as using the 10A DC setting on the meter to test the horn, lights, and lock switches for correct placement. The problem was the connector containing the "lock motor" i.e. black wire in pin 10. (I went with black larger gauge wire in pin 6 thinking all the other wires were backwards to begin with). Turns out that was the motor for the windows. Little switch some connectors and shrink wrap and the correct black smaller gauge wire and the system works great.

Hope this helps. The install isn't hard it just took a eureka moment while pumping gas to figure out why im an idiot. Just need intermittent wipers and that expensive convenience package will be all mine for just under 400 bucks.

    Original:
So, I could use some help.
Installed this kit but noticed that the wire colors corresponded to the instructions but the location of the wires is opposite of what the instructions say (the ignition connector had wiring in the same place. Rest of connectors were opposite). Should I go on wire location or wire color?
Installed it initially on color only and I’m having issue with the 10 amp fuse blowing when I use the FOB. Reconnect negative terminal and horn blasts like panic button has been pressed and then I go to hit unlock and fuse blows.

Any ideas? Doesn’t sound like the doors are actuating with the fob.

Installed today. Straight forward and works great!

Can someone verify their lights work as follows?

DRL= Front ambers only ( with park brake off ) mine is manual

Next = Front ambers + rear markers + interior lighting + access to fogs ( I added fogs )

Last = All previous lighting + Headlamps

    Cheers

Has anyone tried to program a different style of key fob to this system yet?

I just finished installing keyless entry on a 2017 Base Tacoma. I used the kit posted by the OP. I got it on Amazon from Daytona Toyota ($122). Thanks to the instructions provided by the OP it was very straight forward.
My only advice to someone is make sure when your looking at the instructions to remember the diagram for the pins is facing the connection and not the wires. The colors matched up exactly to the instructions, I got confused because I kept thinking the wires were on the opposite side and it was intimidating for me to cut. Once I realized you need look at it from the actual connection it became really easy to install. Hardest part for me was getting the hood latch disconnected.

I also did not hook up the headlights or horn, but it would be very simple to do later since you would only need to remove the steering column plastic.

I have zero electrical skills, so I hope this helps someone pull the trigger. It was well worth the investment.

I have had the kit from Daytona Toyota for a couple of months now and am wanting to get a different fob. The instructions that come with it are really straightforward for programming a new fob but for some reason I can't get it to take my aftermarket one. Has anyone had success adding a new fob? I wasn't aware of any "compatibility" issues and figured any old fob could work with this system but apparently not.

    Here's the one I tried:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SZCSNZ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The horn beeps to tell me it's in programming mode, but when I try to register the new fob nothing happens.

I wanted the style above because it'd allow me to use a 2nd gen key fob cover. Example:

Were you ever able to program a new remote?

I started to do the installation today and realized a kit had already been installed in the truck, but I never got key fobs when I bought the truck
