Hello Folks...my truck is a 2020 w/ non JBL stereo system. I have already replaced all speakers and it sounds great. Looking to add a little more thump so I purchased the add an amp Adapter on Amazon but it does not fit any of the factory radio plugs on my head unit.

I've watched several install videos and it does appear the 2020 factory head unit plugs are different than the previous years. I would ideally like a plug and play preamp adapter and not have to splice into the factory harness.

Looking for some guidance...any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Thanks but that's the one I ordered and it does not fit my 2020 factory radio. Curious if anyone has a 2020 and have found a plug and play adapter that fits.

Look into the kicker key and the harnesses you can/ people make for it.

I have a 2020 Sport (non JBL) and those adapters don't work. I had to splice the speaker wires and use an LC2i. If you don't want to solder, use posi taps. I used 4 posi taps right in the back of the stock head unit and it works great.

My setup is a JL 8" Microsub (behind rear seat) and JL JD-250 amp. The Amp and LC2i fit under perfectly under the driver seat (need to raise driver seat a little). Love the sound and simplicity of this setup.

EDIT: If you have a quality system, no sense cheap out on the audio connection from the head unit. Just spend the $100 for the LC2i instead of going the shortcut route with a $25 convertor.

I bought a jl stealth box and got a jl rd500/1 amp. Did you find that the lc2i added a bunch more tuning? I'm not suuuper fluent in audio to know how to dial all that in. I can set an amp but I see the unit you suggest adds a few more tuning variables

I have been searching for this since January... Thank you. Even made my own thread asking everyone months ago.

There are even reviews of people saying it works on a 2020 tacoma on Amazon!!!
    THANK YOU.

When I connect to bluetooth, I don't feel like the all the extra bells and whistles become worth it. However, when I plug in my phone directly to the unit with apple carplay, that's where the magic happens. Not sure why, but for me sound quality goes up a level. Maybe I lose some quality going wireless?

Also, those adapters were actually closer to $50 (+shipping to Hawaii)... I felt I could afford another $50 (and free shipping from crutchfield) and just get the lc2i...

Quick question. When you add an amplifier with one of these adapters, does the factory speaker wiring still work? Or do you have to rewire all the speakers to the aftermarket amplifier?

I bought the second one that you linked to but I have yet to get round installing the thing.
I'm probably past the Amazon return window so hopefully it will work. My plan was to use it to connect a 8" powered sub I got from Crutchfield years ago I pulled from my Liberty before I sold it. Not exactly sure where to fit it in the truck, plus it winter now and I don't have a garage. I guess I won't get RoundTuit till spring.

    Any update on this?

I got my 2020 tacoma same set-up, replaced all speakers with nice kickers, still not getting sound I want...

How did it sound before vs after you added the amp?

I want to know if it is worth it, because I spent 300 on speakers and the truck audio is better but still not good. Better audio on my 2014 charger...

Is it worth it to upgrade to get an amp? I am looking for much more sound clarity, and slightly louder sounds. I would imagine thats what the amp does but who knows with the factory system in the tacoma

100% get an amp. I had the Kicker Key 200.4 in my 2020 and with the kicker speaker upgrade it sounded good. Lacking a lot of bass, but that’s the job of a sub anyways. :)

Awesome man thanks for the response.

I am thinking to buy the amp and have Best Buy do it for $120. I'm not a car guy but I managed to do the speakers myself but the amp looks more of a complicated setup
