I've only read about them and it seems promising. Time will tell how they are. I did find a video review on a Lexus ISF where they did not work, but installing new iriduim plugs fixed it.

Why try to reinvent the wheel. Stick to good ol copper plugs.

I prefer Iridium plugs in pretty much everything I drive (minus my father-in-laws 50's and 60's pickups, they like copper and don't get may miles). I've installed iridiums in every vehicle I've owned and would recommend them in everything a customer has brought me, with a few vehicles being the exception. I figure spend a little extra, get longer life and better spark energy.

The key is to use NGK or Denso Iridium, Bosch is JUNK...for everything including sensors! I have replaced many Bosch sensors and plugs for being the culprit of an issue, even though it was brand new parts. I've even had where the customer requests a Bosch part and it fails right out of the package!

It's probably about time for me to do plugs again idle has been a little rough lately and I don't remember last time I did plugs though I know I used NGK iridium.

Might give these a go, NGK has never let me down.

Looks like I last did plugs in 2017. :bananadead:

My ‘15 has at least 70K on the plugs and it seems sluggish and less miles per tank lately. Figure its over due so ill try a tune up and these are supposedly the latest and greatest and everyone seems to agree NGK or Denso.

Well decided to give them a go.

    @trigama3

Went to O'Reilly's, they didn't have them in stock said they had to special order them directly from ngk, I'm hoping that's true, it seems to be, but I know NGK plugs get counterfeit a lot.

That said they seem to be genuine as far as I can tell though I did try and call NGK but they were not open when I called and today was my best opportunity to install so I decided to put them in anyway.

I checked and had to regap each to the correct .044".

Holy balz my old ones (NGK Iridium IX) were definitely done, I gapped them at .044 when I installed them; observe the gaps I recorded when I removed them:

Yikes, look at that nastiness, ground strap half eaten away, color, deposits, the massive gaps...

I think I found my irregular occasional "miss" feeling at idle, it does seem to be absent now but time will tell.

So far only put about 10 miles on the Ruthenium just to feel them out, truck is still learning trims and such as I disconnect the battery to reset the ECU but it definitely sounds and feels a lot stronger, starts faster, idle is smoother.

So long as I get 1mpg totally worth it.

Don't know if it even makes a difference on these modern engines but I decided it was only a little extra effort I may as well go all old school "hot rodder" and marked each plug with an orange dot to denote gap orientation and tried the plugs as I installed them to get the openings to line up with the intake valves.

You can just see the orange dot when installed, got all 6 to face the intake valves dead on.

Feels good, no codes, I like them so far.

Curious to see if you notice any changes in the future with regards to fuel economy or power under heavy load. I agree, with modern ignition systems it's hard to tell if there will be any improvement over the iridiums if they were both new. But I would say these plugs are worth a shot in your case where the old ones were clearly getting close to end of life. My 15 has a little shake at idle every once in a while, I wouldn't think my plugs are bad as I have less than 30k on the NGK iridiums, but maybe I'll check a couple on my next oil change while I'm in there.

Wonder if those ones you just took out were counterfits? How many miles on them? Those gaps seem as bad as some guys taking the original factory plugs out with 200k + on them.

Did plugs and new serp belt (went with continental made in Germany) and the plugs i took out were SPENT as expected. Either the dealership lied when i bought it at 40K about installing new plugs or they changed 1/2 NGK & 1/2 Denso. Im gonna assume they lied and these OE plugs now had 118K on them.
Only 15 miles so far but definitely smoother idle and feels better at low rpm. Seems like a noticeable improvement - but that could be related to the pound of acorns i dumped out of my air intake that chipmunks left for me. Either way, i am happy so far.
Will update if there’s any improvement in MPG.

Had them for about two full tanks now, definitely seemed to have gained some pickup on the butt dyno and perhaps a slight ≈1mpg economy increase, throttle response seems a little more lively and it's definitely smoother, the random occasional "miss" feeling at idle is gone.

    So yes I like them.

I did read somewhere while researching and verified that if you pay close attention to the marketing wank from NGK the plugs the Ruths are compared to are the Iridium IX which are the low end iridiums where the Laser Iridium are technically better than or in the very least equal to the Ruths and roughly the same cost.

Essentially NGK is doing the Ruthenium plugs as it's a little cheaper to manufacturer than the high end iridium with similar performance however they don't appear to be passing the saving onto the end user.

Still I had the NGK Iridium IX in my truck for the last 60k+ miles at least so the Ruths are an upgrade and needed maintenance.

    YMMV.

3 tanks of gas and up to 17.6mpg average now. Which is about 1.3mpg improvement for me.
