    Crash,
I bought the Headlight Services wiring harness, and I'm waiting for a nice warm & dry day to install it. In the mean time, do you have any pictures of a nice homemade bracket I can replicate to neatly mount the relays in my 2008 Tacoma's engine compartment? I like having everything in hand before I start the job so it goes quickly.

    Thanks!

I copied others and mounted to battery hold down.

Others have definitely got more creative than me for relay mounting. I hard mounted when installing it on my first 2 Toyota pickups, but then didn’t on my 1st Gen for whatever reason, so I didn’t on my 2nd Gen either. :anonymous:

You're in good company! I simply tucked mine next to the battery. (That was years ago and, aside from failure of one cheap Chinese relay, I've had no problems.)

Yep, that is where mine are tucked as well. Between my 1st and 2nd Gen I've run them that way for 6 years without any issues.

Would be easiest to just to replace the connector and run the harness. In theory you could do oversized wiring through the factory box. But I don't know that the internals of the box are designed to hold the higher wattage and you could have some voltage drop taking that route plus it would be a lot more work. You'd want to check the relay capacities as well. There are a lot of unknowns trying to put almost 2x the power though the system than it was designed for, even if you go through and start replacing sub components. A dedicated system designed for that power is a much safer and simpler bet.

I’m probably just going to run the relay harness. I’m just more confused as to why they would cut the connectors off to remove headlights.

when the connector is easily reached? Oh well

Cutting off the connectors makes no sense. Someone was stupid lazy.

Luckily it was just both headlights and the corner lights.

Secured mine in next to the battery. The relay sockets have screw holes so it's easy to mount them.

Ordered HS harness and 4 of the recommended OSRAM 100/90W bulbs. Will definitely be posting pictures once installed! New housing as well but they’re nothing special. Just nice, shiny, and clean.

Well, I received my Osram bulbs yesterday. Good thing I ordered 4 because the box was crushed and two of the bulbs were smashed. I sent an email to Power Bulbs in the UK to see if they will send two additional bulbs. We'll see what they do.

    UPDATE:
I emailed Power Bulbs and they were great to work with. They asked for photos, which I sent to them and then they immediately emailed me back and said they were shipping new bulbs out to me with upgraded packaging, at no additional cost to me. I am certain that the bulbs were damaged in shipping and Power Bulbs did not have to replace these, but they did! Great customer service, I highly recommend buying bulbs from them. Jack a Power Bulbs gets 5 Starts for customer service from me!!

They normally do a great job packaging. They have excellent customer service, I’d expect they take care of it for you.

Edit: I see you have a 3rd Gen, you didn’t order H4s for the 3rd Gen did you? It takes H11s.

Just completed my upgraded install, using the Osram Rallye Off Road 100/90w 2900 lumen bulbs from Powerbulbs and the wiring harness from Headlight Services. I found both vendors had excellent customer service and fast shipping. The install process was really straight forward, and the components very robust in comparison to the factory wiring.

The resluts are amazing and will put a smile on your face!
The photos posted in this thread do not give true justice to how big an improvement in the light output.

Many thanks to the OP for sharing your knowledge and research...well done my friend!

I always replace in pairs. Then I keep the good one I pull out as a spare.
