I just did a bunch of looking around. The best bang for the buck right now is a Gen2 Smittybilt XRC H2O from 4WP. There's no real upgrade for the Gen3 and they're trying to get rid of the older models right now. Order online or over the phone and you'll save the most, especially with a military discount, and you can pick it up same-day at the store. The store will honor their online prices but they don't have them marked as low as they do online.

    https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/smittybilt-xrc-9-5k-waterproof-9500lb-winch-gen2-97495/_/R-DSBP-97495

9500 will work fine for our trucks. I would always recommend synthetic rope over wire but if you're not going to use it very often wire isn't a bad option.

Ok cool the bumper gives you plenty of room to fit a skid. It uses oem hardware 4 17mm up front and 2 12mm in the rear. I’d get one with a drain plug cutout I think most come with it.

I have nothing against Harbor stuff! I buy things from them often. It’s be different if it were something I used daily but for the frequency I’d use stuff from there, hard to beat their pricing.

    Wright-Pat?

Man that is a freaking SWEET topper. I like how sporty it looks.
Have someone in mind to paint match? *insert plug for my buddy Mike lol. Sorry I just love the guy and he does quality work. Would plug you all as well if you had privately owned businesses that someone was looking for service.

I can’t wait for my Offgrid dual battery set up to come in! Still have to buy my second battery though. Actually forgot about it given the recent order for the bumper, getting tires next week and ordering exhaust.

may have to wait until it actually arrives to be a priority buy for me.

Man this is a huge help! Thanks brother! I honestly know very little about winches as I’ve never owned one. I have only actually even been stuck bad enough where I wished I had one. It’s one of those additions that I think most of us like the “comfort/safety” of having but really don’t use that often on a DD, so I’ve never reasoned buying one.

    No problem

Pays for itself in one use

I'll see if I can't find sure basic winching skills videos for you. There's a right way and a hundred wrong ways to use a winch.

If it were me, I'd get the Gen2 with synthetic rope. That's very likely the one I will end up mounting under my bed.

It's safer, no live wires if it snaps.
You don't have to worry about getting stabbed by frayed wire.
    It doesn't bird-cage.
It's much, much lighter which makes it easier to handle.

If you go that route, make sure you put the condom on it. That'll make a huge difference anywhere the route might rub while using it.
