I use a lot of those plastic coated spade lugs, and the easy way to deal with the plastic coating is to grip it with needle nose pliers and heat it above a gas flame for about 30 seconds. When the plastic gets soft (not burned!) snatch it off using a paper towel (or similar).

I don't trust crimp electric connectors, and always solder the joints on the spade lugs.

Anyone have problems with your fog lights turning on randomly after you shut the truck off? I did this mod about a year ago and kept having problems with it. I don’t think I did this exact wiring route but something very similar. Just wondering if I redo it like this if I’ll have any problems.

 

I don’t have the grey relay box, where are people getting their ignition power supply from?

 

Thanks! I actually went off of the washer fluid pump from inside the cab with a add a fuse. I’m not a big fan of slicing into oem wiring. Mine can be ripped out and returned to stock in 5 minutes.

Just did a bunch of research on this mod and determined this method was by far the simplest and fastest. Took me about ten minutes of actual work. Works flawlessly!

 

I very small 20 awg wire would do the same...
