My new Coopers are waiting for me at America’s Tire. I doubt these hit the shops for a while. I looked online and no prices yet.

Hopefully they are better in the rain than the AT2 were. I loved them in the snow and in the woods, but wet pavement was their Achilles heal. Living in New England there are stop signs on hills, being in the rain or slightly damp after a summer rainstorm, made this tires sometimes difficult unless the bed was loaded. I had a pair of AT2 for 58k miles and they were great other than that. I got Wildpeaks in November and love them so far. I feel the road noise is less noticeable with the wildpeaks vs AT2. Not quieter but less noticeable.

As others have asked what this is, I have an excerpt from Wikipedia. Everyone in Elementary School used to draw this - not sure why.

"The "Cool S", also known as the "Stüssy S", "Super S", "Superman S", "Pointy S", "Slayer S", "Graffiti S", "The S Factor", "Universal S", and many other names, is a graffiti sign in popular culture that is typically doodled on children's notebooks or graffitied on walls. The exact origin of the "Cool S" is unknown. It may have begun as a geometric puzzle or pattern dating back centuries, or it may have appeared around the 1960s or 1970s as a part of graffiti culture. Contrary to popular belief, the symbol has no ties to either the American clothing brand Stüssy or to the character Superman."

About 5lbs lighter than the Wildpeaks in 265/70 17. Looking of 255's next though.

Less tread depth and mileage warranty by the looks of it.

Wildpeaks are at 55,000, these are at 65,000. So I'm guessing if there is less tread depth and can possibly go further, it must be a harder rubber. Not too good for snow an ice if that's the case.

The open country At2 could be a harder rubber but it was great in the snow and ice. The amount of grip fell off very quickly after about 50k miles and during a summer thunderstorm I found that the tires had no more grip and were really unsafe in the wet. That's when I went and bought a new set of tires. I knew that I did not want to get another set of At2.

Only the Xtreme models had the "Xtra aggressive" sidewall look for the at2 also. I don't know if they made a change. I'll be honest, I have not gone to the website yet lol.
    I got wildpeaks lol.

That may not be the case. The SL wildpeaks have less tread than the LT and they used to carry a higher mileage warranty. That’s how these are rated. SL is 65k, LT is 50k but has deeper tread.

SL for both use a silica compound that is supposed to make the tire softer for better wet/snow traction and extend tread life. I’m not sure why they don’t use it on the deeper LT tread. Maybe it doesn’t handle constant heavy loads as well. :notsure:

That is the biggest problem in my opinion with the AT2. The SL version is like a passenger all season. The LT is better but not much. The Xtreme version looks like a nice aggressive AT but is only available in large sizes. I think if they would have used the Xtreme tread/sidewall in smaller sizes a lot more people would be running the AT2.

Not unlike the new Cooper AT3. The XLT looks to be a great tire as long as you want at least a 285.

So hopefully these new Toyos keep the mildly aggressive tread in at least the 265 sizes.
