My first attempt at a tarmac base. I think I did pretty good. My squares at 1/72 would be about 24'. Not sure if that's too large or not. You can watch the steps in my highlights on Instagram @twistylensphoto

Managed to finish two more this year (one just barely) for a total of four kits finished in 2019.

Last month I completed an Academy 1/35 South Korean K2 Black Panther. I used a DEF Model barrel and decals, Orange Hobby brass antennas, plus some copper wire for the tow cables. I messed up the skate ring base for the commander's .50 cal. If I can find a replacement I'll probably go back and add one and maybe some stowage, but for now this thing is complete.

Last for the year is Takom's 1/35 Krupp 21cm Morser 16. This was my hotel build for a while while traveling for work, and I pushed to finish it before year's end. It goes together fairly well, though several minor details and corrections were added using sheet styrene and brass wire.

Also managed to make it down to IPMS Nationals this year. Four of the six models I brought took third place in their categories. Completely unexpected given the quality of work on the tables.

Overall, 2019 was a great year. We'll see what 2020 has in store.

Finished my first build of 2020: Meng 1/35 Flakpanzer Gepard A2. It's mostly out of box, save for wire handles and antennas and PE tie downs on the rear. This thing has been on and off my bench now for a couple years; feels pretty good to finally see it finished.

I also recently built an airbrush booth and reorganized my workbench. I'm really happy with this setup, and it's great to not have to haul everything down to the basement to paint.

Thanks! It's a major improvement over what my bench was like less than a year ago. Decided to finally put some effort into a more efficient work space instead of just buying kits.

...^^^... I had a buddy who flew those in RVN for CAS for the troops. I have seen those aircraft in action, they are awesome.

They were the A-10 Warthog of their day.

I've always thought they were really cool! I've seen one on static display at an airshow but not in the air.

Glad to see others that sniff the plastic glue. I finished this kit for a coworker of mine last year. It's the Moebius Death Dealer modeled after Frank Frazetta's iconic work from the 70's.
I'm currently doing several projects to stay occupied during the lockdown. :p

Been meaning to post this, finished the big girl (1/32 Tamiya F4U-1A). Really great kit, but don't have the space to display too many this size.

Mostly OOB, aftermarket decals, resin cowl flaps and wheels & cloth seat belts. Had decent reference pics for the non-standard antenna configuration. Added spark plug wiring and the oil crossover tubes to the otherwise excellent kit engine. Pretty happy with how the faded and worn paint came out.

Very nice. Saw the real one quite a bit at Pax, like the MQ-4C Triton, the X-47 is both bigger and smaller than I expected, if that makes sense.

Not really. I've assembled the fuselage, sanded it. Wings are together but not attached to fuselage. I need to get back on it and knock it out.

Been a while since I updated... Over the last few months I have finished the following.

    Italeri 1/48th CH-47F
Hasegawa 1/48th F-16c Fighting Falcon 'Thunderbirds'
    Monogram 1/48th EA-6B Prowler
    Accurate Miniatures IL-2 Sturmovik
    Tamiya Merkava

As always I hated the decals for the F-16 and the EA-6B so I hand masked all the patterns except for the starts on the F-16. I also just realized I put the USAF logo on upside down on one wing...

    Photos of the kits below....
