I spent the first few years of my career (90-93) as an F-15 Avionics tech back shop autotest stations. I think the AFSC back then was 451X4. Absolutely, hated working in a windowless 60° building. I signed up to be a crew chief but got screwed out of that job before I got to basic. Ended up crosstraining to Transportation (93-97), and then again to Aerial Port when I joined the reserves (97-14), both were much more fun to me.

Yeah I got an IT degree so I wouldn't have to work on airplanes after I retired. A year later I hired on with an aerospace manufacturer as an avionics technician on unmanned aircraft systems. Been with the company for 9 years this October.

USAF, 20 years as a 462/2W1 Aircraft Weapons Specialist. F4G, A10A, F15 A through E, and F16. After I retired I took a job as an avionics tech working UAS for the Army, been on that program almost 9 years. I've deployed more in the last 8 years then I did in my whole Air Force career.

Not a maintainer but a fair amount time in P3C, P3B (going from active duty to reserves is a step back in time) and CP140 (Canadian Forces version). Your post brought a smile to my face...I too miss the mighty Orion. Thanks to all the maintainers who do the hard work keeping the planes in an “Up” Status.
