So I got some XBull traction boards from my secret santa (still dont know who but thank you!)

The issue is, I'm trying to figure out a way to mount them on the truck. Either by roof rack. Bed rack. Or even the bed rails.

Searching online I couldn't find anything. And the maxxtraxx mounts WILL NOT work for these boards. Anyone use them and have mounting ideas they've used?

Here's a general thread that might give you some ideas
Show how you mount your traction boards
I posted in there a while ago with the way I mounted my Tred's, and I'm pretty sure I got the idea from here as well

xbull traction boards don't stack as neat as maxtraxx but what I did is the d ring bed mod and just strap the boards to the bed of the truck. They don't shift when tightened down

I have same boards. I used a couple of t-Nutz for the bed rails then bought eye bolts long enough to go through the holes. One at from and one at back, measured and cut. The eye part of the bolt holds them on and works as a type of wing for fingers to turn it.

here’s a quick pic I just snapped. Look up t Nutz and Tacoma bed rails on Amazon you will find them. Bring to hardware store and find appropriate eye bolt diameter. I don’t remember the size off hand. AFF93880-E7A4-4828-8DDA-F8186022A01E.jpg

Ive got the same boards. First I gotta say they are awesome! used them a few times and they work super well. anyway, I made some mounts for mine out of steel channel stock and some bolts. They hang under my RTT. I easily could have made them fit the bed rails.

I have the same set of boards. These are the best pics of how I have them mounted on my Prinsu rack. Just take 1/4” carriage bolts and mount them through the holes in the center, not the outer holes. Large fender washer and wing nut hold them down.

no, they sell eye bolts in various different lengths. Even if you did, it is not difficult. Measure, Mark, start with a a hand held hacksaw to get a groove then finish with a saw all. I usually leave a bolt on opposite side of the cut then run back and forth over the new end a few times which will help clean up the threads.

No but it's super easy. Just take stainless steel 1/4" carriage bolts and stick them into the Prinsu bars. You probably need 5" in length but measure just to be sure. You will have to move the cross bars forward and rear to get the right spacing. Then put a stainless fender washer and wing nut up top and you're good to go.

I just stuck a rail on the back wall, bought some 3/8-16 T-nuts on Amazon, and made some quick and cheap mounting bars. Two 1/2" thick aluminum bars, some homemade aluminum spacers, and hardware. I drilled thru the bars for the 3/8-16 cap screws on top (bolt the bars to the back rail) and tapped 1/2-13 for the four XBull mount holes. I screwed 1/2-13 x 5"L hex head bolts from the backside. And I made some 1" dia x 2"L spacers that are drilled 1/2" dia thru. Slide the boards onto the bolts, slide the spacers on, tighten down with 1/2-13 wing nuts. Threw on some lock washers to hold up against the vibration. Pretty quick and cheap, doing great so far. I can post better pics if it helps.

I have two on the side of my KB Voodoo rack. I was lucky enough to find some threaded 1/2" bolts with threads down to the base. Used some washers and nuts to lock them into holes already on the rack (I would have drilled them if they weren't there). I only mounted the two bottom holes which works but could be better with all four. Only minimal movement, regardless. Had to go to ACE to get the nuts, but they're a join kind of nut that I use either my multi tool or 1/2" wrench to get on (wing nuts get stuck too easily and spacers are not an option seemingly). This also works as a sort of antitheft for any crook that doesn't have tools on them (not strong, I am aware). Either way, I love the look and they are really easy to get to when I have needed them. I can snag a better photo of the hardware if anyone is interested. 20201127_114633.jpg

i'd like to see the hardware pics, @BigBoi. i have an 18" kb voodoo max modular rack and i just got my xbull set with the brackets. i'm thinking of getting a couple 1.5"x.25" x 12" stainless flats and drilling the holes for the xbull brackets and attaching to the rack...but i haven't decided yet. dumb idea?

I just purchased these. Will be here on Thursday. I’m hoping to use the basic hardware the the XBull boards came with so that I have an actual handle instead of using an eye bold like mentioned above. We will see though what China delivers.
