Anyone with an RCI Diff Skid - is this normal to have a little gap where it the bolts up on the axle? Pictured is someone else's RCI Diff Skid and their Taco, not mine. However, basically same deal.

I would assume so... if the brackets touched, you wouldn't have any clamping force on the axle.

Here is mine, if this helps. Do they make a 2nd and 3rd gen diff skid? The 3rd gen is a larger diff, not sure about the tubes.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Your looking at this concerned about the gap when it bolts and I'm over here looking at all the ground clearance loss damn that thing hangs low.

That's exactly what I was thinking... It looks like a bunch of scrap to me. If someone wanted unshaved 14 bolt clearance on their Toyota axles, this is one way to do it.

Yep I redesigned ours and it was only a .6250" loss in ground clearance. Now it's about .280" and it's made from .250" plate.

I prefer the "lose no ground clearance at all" route with a welded on diaper.

I get why it isn't, but bummer the plug isn't more protected. Looks sleek though

I think they prevent holes on your diff housing.

I'd love to see anyone with a Toyota housing that has a hole worn in it.

    Spoiler alert: You won't.

Hence why the weld on diff diaper is all that's really needed. I have seen the back of an axle housing get a hole poked in it. That part is real thin.
