I started again today. I've been off the rails since like mid October and I'm paying for it dearly. I've got no energy, been napping a lot, etc. The sudden switch is messing up my body right now too but it'll adjust.

Keto worked well for me. I am down 55# from last Christmas. I was down another 14#, but went off in October and ate pretty bad for the holidays. Went back on yesterday. I will eat a fair number of calories (~2,500 per day) until I am in ketosis, and the appetite suppression kicks in. I am pretty active so I won't gain even at 2,800 per day. I want to lose 20 from where I am today, and maintain that. So I plan to lose 30, and gain 10 back when I transition back to a normal diet.

Having a BBQ/smoking hobby makes keto a breeze.

Interesting observation for me, I've cycled on and off of keto diets for 10+ years now, with some stints lasting a year or more at a time. About 2 years ago I started having PVCs, my heart rhythm is slightly off resulting in early heart beats and then a prolonged pause.

For no real reason at one point I decided to switch back to keto, it wasnt apparent to me for the time being that the PVCs became a rare occurrence until I switched back to a standard diet again.

I've found that keto reduces the bloating that I have, not just after eating but the base level bloating, like the type you dont realize you have because its always there. Oddly the bloating causes abdominal pressure that appears to translate to PVCs. After recently dealing with a couple weeks where I was having 1000 or so irregular heart beats a day I switched to keto, once again within a week they were down to <10 a day. Now a month later, gone. The PVCs do seem to affect my base level of anxiety as well, so in a way keto also appears to be a indirect way to boost my mental state.

Disclaimer, I've had my heart checked, holters, EKG, ECG, the whole nine yards. Everything is normal in there. Some people might actually experience more PVCs while on keto due to electrolyte imbalances that can occur with the diet (make sure to add more salt). For me though, the diet does treat a condition specific to me, thought others might like to hear the success stories.

Ive currently switched to the "Carnivore diet", with the exception of including avocados and occasional cashews. Its easier to plan and follow, still costs a fortune with my high metabolism though.

A couple of years ago, I did Keto for about 5 months. Lost 45 lbs and got down to 220. I was back to running, etc. Broke up with the gf at the time and went back to my old ways of drinking, eating like crap, etf. I put 35 back on, but am maintaining at 255 or so. Today I am starting back on Keto. So here are my starting stats:

    5'8"
    256.2 as of this morning
    40 waist.

I have a wide/muscular build naturally, so the lowest I probably need to go is around 200 or so. At the weight I should get my 6 pack back. I might try to get closer to 195, and then start lifting again. Wish me luck!

    Thanks for sharing this.

I get PVCs. I have heart defects one both sides of my family so I too have had all the testing done. I just get PVCs.
I’m training for an ultramarathon in May and the more activity I do the worse they get.

I also normally have low BP due to all the activity but as soon as my carbs go up the BP goes up and starts riding borderline hypertension.

The carb control helps the BP and the keto requires more potassium and sodium supplementation for the PVCs. I have noticed that so nice to hear someone else notices the same.

I supplement with various electrolyte drinks. I too have a family history of heart defects, luckily not genetic but rather things like scarlet fever causing defects. I got a good prognosis, but yeah they still suck. I am an avid powerlifter, unfortunately the adrenaline spikes before heavy lifts often cause more, luckily exercise typically quiets them once its done. I deal with some during workouts and then a nice mellow period after when Im floating on my lifters high.

This is my main reason for Keto v. Weight Watchers (which has worked for me before) is the bloating. I had my gallbladder removed summer of 2018 and the keto diet is the only thing that generally keeps my stomach flat. I get super bainful bloating where my stomach is hard as a rock.

Yeah my stomach bloated up some after going off keto for the holidays. Of course the terribly unhealthy good didn't help.

Keto without a gallbladder, might want to check out bile salts if you haven't already. Always good to hear another person finding a better option for them. :hattip:

Just found this. Got a lot of reading to do. I was at 280 around 18 years old. And then around 22 I started a huge weight loss and got down to 180 at my lowest. Did it fast too and lost a lot of muscle. Well now I’m 31. I got back from a cruise in December and was at 270. Started Keto. And love it. Tons of deer meat and chicken. Been going to the gym every morning before work. Getting there at 4:30. And working out for atleast an hour. Feel amazing. Down to 255 right now. And my goal is under 200 before my next cruise next December. I wanna take the weight off slow and gain a ton of muscle while doing so. This is also very hard with a stay at home wife and 2 boys at home. 3 and 1. Only time I have to go to the gym is before work. Which with the commute I’m gonna for around 13 hours a day. Hoping to stay on the bandwagon and get back to where I wanna be!

I had knee surgery beginning of Feb so I took a break from keto. Then unfortunately got a GI infection that kept me away from it even further.

Happy to say I’m day 3 back and loving it. I really missed this diet.

I am on the mend! Was able to get in 4.5 miles walking on the treadmill today. Super excited.
Bummed my gym closed so I can’t bike or do the eliptical but I’m far enough into my rehab I think I can do without.

Got to the store today to stock up on pork rinds, eggs, and garlic stuffed green olives lol.
