lol im not quite sure you understand how this setup works. I will have BETTER sound quality than most systems out there, without the use of your so called "cd's". Doy uyou know what the audison bit one is? I also have some pretty serious highs and subs in my vehicle (about $2,000 worth) and the ipad hooks up to the system THROUGH the bitone, its going to sound killer.

I got to be honest, my first thought of this idea is that it is a ridiculous waste of money. But, after seeing the video, I can see the cool factor, for sure. It definitely takes audio/video to a whole another level. But, the frugality in me wonders why you don't just get a simple mount, like the cup holder mounts, and use and auxiliary input. It would save some money, but you would loose on some of the cool factor. I suppose if the Ipad is removable you don't have to use it on the dash, which is horrible ergonomics if you intend to use the computer for anything other than entertainment.

Well, definitely looking forward to the results man. Should be sick and make your ride unique.

idk what your end result is going to look like, but you might want to have the shop glass some sort of awning over the top of it. I have used an ipad in direct sunlight and it was a joke. Keeping the contour of the dash is asking for a stupid amount of glare.

Test out the placement before they start making the housing.

That's what I did with my iPhone. It's not as pretty or have the best sound quality, but it's super cheap solution and works very well. You only need to buy two things to get a great setup for your tacoma.

First is the phone mount, the Kensington Mount ($30) I bought has both a windshield suction mount and a vent mount. I use the vent mount and mount it on the driver side vent on the left of the steering wheel so that it doesn't block the air from the center vents. The mount will fit most phones, I know it fits an iPhone 3G/3GS with case and a Samsung Galaxy.

Second, you need this Kensington Bluetooth LiquidAUX ($15)car kit. This allows you to connect your phone to the Tacoma's MP3/AUX port via bluetooth. So when you step into the car, your phone connects automatically to the Tacoma's AUX port via bluetooth. The LiquidAUX has built-in mic which allows you to talk and listen through the car's speaker system. And you can also play music in stereo sound through bluetooth from your phone, which is not possible in most cars optional bluetooth. The only negative thing is the steering wheel remote doesn't work with the iPhone, but might work with other phones.

So for a total $45 or so, you get a similar experience with your smartphone.

Why not just do a carputer? Seems to me it would be a lot more practical and that's why I plan on putting one in my truck.
