I have noticed there is a few areas on the rear window seal that look as though they have mold growing on it? Has anyone else had this happen and if so what is causing it? It is spotty looking just like mold, may be unavoidable, but if I can keep it off I would like to. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!! JOE>

Yep, got it on mine...? I don't know what causes it either. I've tried removing it with windex & alcohol and neither helped. I'm thinking of gettin' after it with one of those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers but I can never remember to pick one up when I'm at the store.

This is actually my driver's side window, not the rear, but it's the same thing.

I'm gonna try a bleach mix solution when i get home... it kills mold. I don't know if it will fade the plastic. (we'll see)

Here's a picture of what the crud on my rear window seal looks like. It's not on any other surface...

    RearWindowCrud.jpg

I tried using the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it didn't do much.

Yeah I saw that, went to the site... it's a product. Did you use this product to remove the crud from your window seal?

Mr. Clear Magic Eraser will work well on your rear window, however, I have found it's not as effective on the belt line molding.

Same thing on ALL my windows.. and my Truck is always in the Sun, so not sure what exactly why that is. It does clean up some if you use Armorall Protectant and scrub w/a bristle brush.. then wipe clean.

Has anybody had any luck with solving the seal mold issue? I went to the dealership and asked a couple mechanics and they said most of the tacomas have it and you cant get rid of it. Sounds to me like Toyota needs to fix this issue.

Ga guy here to that's had it bad when I bought the truck. I took some real fine sand paper and taped off everything. Then sprayed it with silicon spray about three coates. Lots of lite sanding but just be sure to sand it in one direction.
I also found that a dremel tool with a buffing wheel works best for the side windows.
