Still pretty quiet in Maricopa county. We have like 200 known cases in the county at this time. So all this social distancing this early on should help quite a bit!

Not sure, just figured it out, gonna grab a new one and see.

Thats good news, Ive heard the virus doesn't like warmer temps too, not sure if there is any truth to that but next week will really help since its supposed to be mid 80s.

I guess we’ll see. I’m a bit optimistic for Arizona since it’s so spread out, things are set up nicely for drive though, and people tend to stick to their neighborhood. A bit concerned for the high percent of elderly in certain areas though...

Hi all; my work is asking for my time off requests for Jan-March. Presuming things settle down with Covid, we thinking about doing a 3rd anual AZBDR trip? If so any ideas on the dates?

I'm in as well. Someone should start a new thread for the 3rd annual run. I agree with @Ace115, 2/27 & 28 should be a good weekend. I'm sure there will be others that want to start early again.

I’ll have to wait and see when it comes to Covid. If this winter is a disaster and we don’t have a vaccine, I’ll probably be super high risk for infection and spreading it to everyone. (currently treat Covid patients in the hospital for those who don’t remember). I’ve been Covid negative thus far though!!!

Do we have a tentative plan for the 3RD Annual AZBDR?

At a very fast pace, I made it to HWY 260 in about 1.75 hours from where we parted ways last time, and I'm planning on starting where I left off up on the rim.

I remember others talking of starting back where we parted ways above Roosevelt Lake. I'm sure the large boulder is still blocking the Cherry creek road, so to finish that section others will have to take the South power service road 202, which follows the power lines to HWY 260 just east of the Mogollon Rim.

This is the road I took heading home. The worst of it was a section that had a lot of softball sized rocks covering the road. Another section on top had a 50 yard mud hole that was almost axle deep. Other than that, it was an easy section, no 4WD.

Section 6-7, Young to Winona (Flagstaff) is the longest section at 136 miles long. There are no services between where we parted ways and Winona, so everyone will need to plan accordingly, i.e. fuel, water, food etc.

My plan is to meet up with the main body on HWY 260 and Rim road the night of the 26th or the morning of the 27th.

For those coming from the valley and Tucson wanting to start earlier on Friday the 26th, if you all hit the trail early you should be able to make it to the rim that evening. There is plenty of dispersed camping in the area.

All we need now is a plan and a list of attendees.

Ah damn, I'm in. The 2nd AZBDR was one of my favorite trips I've taken. Excited for a third, no matter the Covid situation. Hopefully everyone from this year and more can join in. Was a blast.

I really like this plan. Meet up at the rim for camping Friday evening. Anyone who wants to finish up the last section we did can do so starting Friday morning.
