Any news about S1 flush mounts in the works? I'm holding off on buying reverse lights until I know more. I 'd much rather put S1s in my bumper than the S2's due to mounting space.

FYI - I got tired of waiting for a response here and contacted BD directly. Here was the response:

Following... looking to add more lighting when in reverse (in addition to bright led reverse bulbs), especially when backing up the boat down the ramp at night.

They are out now. I ordered a set of the flush mounts with the work/scene lens. Hoping to get them installed in the next couple of weeks. I will have them wired to come on in reverse and also run a wire through the frame to an upfitter switch so they can be manually turned on as well.

There is a coupon code for forums discount on the BD site. Can't remember it off the top of my head, but should be around here somewhere.

Did you buy the S1’s? Look forward to your build if you don’t mind posting the install steps here?

Not sure what beam pattern I should select for the the purpose I stated above?

Yes, I went with the S1s. They said it can be installed with a 2.5" hole saw. I can post the finished project, but I plan on having them installed by an overland shop in the Portland area, so I won't have the step by step. They sell the flush mounts with three different lenses: spot, wide cornering and work/scene. That said, they only sell backup kits with the wiring harnesses in work/scene and wide cornering. I think mounted in the bumper work/scene would be best for your application. Work/scene will get you a little more distance than the wide cornering and why I chose that lens as well.

Finally got them installed. I wanted them to come on in reverse and also be able to manually turn them on when not in reverse. For the record, I had an installer do it and it took 7 hours of labor. The hard part was getting the remote wire through the frame to the Aux switches. They made a huge improvement! That said because they are closer to the center of my bumpers the work/scene lense may not have been the right choice. I'm considering buying wide corning lenses to see if I can get more spread. All-in-all I'm happy, but not a cheap solution and mainly because I wanted the switch.

Damn! 7 hours labor to install 2 reverse lights!?!? Did mine myself in less than half that time (including switches in the cab) and I was chugging beer the whole time so not the fastest work.

Yeah....we used the factory Baja Designs remote wire and it has big connectors. Probably would have been better to add connectors later. Plus the F150 frame is likely different. My Aux switch wires are under the hood so that is where they ran the wire.

Looks good! Do you have a pic at night of how much light it throws? The guys at BD also suggested the "work/scene" lens for me. I was planning to mount the pair on both sides of the tow hitch since it didn't require any cutting and should use existing hardware.

Thanks! I'll try to remember to get some pics tonight. The work/scene will be more of a cone and the wide cornering more of an open fan. I wanted the work/scene because I knew it would throw the light farther, but with my width (90") I only get a little shining past the sides of the truck as I look down it in my mirrors. It's still enough to see where my rear tires are and still an overall improvement, but I care more about width of the light at this point than distance. With the Tacoma being more slim, you'd have better results than me. I think that mounting point could be a good option as long as it's higher that the bottom of your hitch receiver. I've dragged my receiver too many times going through dig outs. Even tore off the trailer outlet on my Tacoma before.

Yes, it will sit higher than the hitch itself.

    Thanks for your input!

You're welcome. I still try to get you pictures when it's dark.
