So I didn't ask; pics of your goliath in the new enclosure?

Being a Theraphosa, I know they require a good deal of humidity.

Be curious as to how you've got your enclosure set up, what you're using for substrate, and how warm the room is where your enclosure is kept?

I'm using this medium enclosure: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002AR48O/ref=twister_B005HSG4NC?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

A few pics attached below, but the enclosure has slits on the 2 long walls which will be great for cross-ventilation. The bad part is that is has slits on the top as well which will allow moisture to dry faster. As I mentioned earlier I'll attach some pieces of plexiglass to the top of the enclosure to block those top vents. Additionally I've got a good deal of moss around the hide which is a planter that will also absorb water. The moss is great at holding water too. I'll probably mist the enclosure daily or every other day, in addition to soaking the substrate as needed. No water dish right now but I might add that tomorrow too. I keep the office around 70 degrees which should be fine.

The theraphosa blondi (Goliath Bird-Eater) is probably the most humidity-dependent species of T you can get and definitely require more attention than others.

Damn that's a lot of moist substrate.

But yes I'm familiar (from my readings) that they are very dependent on a humid environment.

Can't wait to see it modified

One important thing to mention after watching this video. It looks like that guy was using regular silicone which can be hazardous for pets. This is a safer alternative: https://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-10016...85352456&sprefix=pet+safe+sili,aps,147&sr=8-3

Lol I'll probably moisten the substrate even more. Just wanted to see how it would soak in.

Wonder if I'll find anything like that locally

There was a big aquarium store that closed up shop about a year ago and that place would've been perfect

Just try Amazon. All of the stuff I've recently ordered has only been delayed a few days.

My OBT already went through a molt!

No wonder it didn't want to eat yesterday!

    The molt

The T in hiding on the other side of the enclosure; hard to see but there's a bit of that blueish hue on the bottom of its legs

As for my other T, it's barely responsive, so I moved it into ICU :pout:

Covered it, burned some holes through the plastic enclosure lined with moist paper towels, soaked a small bit of moss and put it in there as well, small water dish, and covered to keep light from entering.

Something I do/have done, keep a small hand towel or similar over the top grill. Enough air will get through and you can mist the towel without excess moisture in the enclosure. On cool nights it holds a couple of degrees of temp. Easy to get out of the way if needed.

I'm considering doing this is well since it would be an easier way to help block the air flow ... but for the tarantula in this specific enclosure excess moisture is a good thing. Adding some plexiglass wouldn't be too involved and would be easier on the eyes compared to the towel method though. :D
