Question. -

Would having a drain bung in these be useful? Obviously everyone isn t going to have that issue but a drain bung would mitigate removing everything again. Could put a purge valve on the bung to electronically "blow off" the liquid when there are doubts.

 

I believe that I responded to you on YouTube as well.

Plenty of options could be had, with some fabrication skills. If an off-roader also had a turbo kit, and did water crossings, if could be beneficial to them for a drain valve for certain.

My main issue is that the plastic fender liner was removed and all of that mist was being sucked in. As well as the fact that this intercooler has no diverters in the end tanks. Forcing the air through the top and bottom, preventing an air eddy current and the bottom. Path of least resistance across the top.

 

Gotcha - Youtube notifications get drowned out and I get them days after.

After Super Werty's vids went dark, I started asking in both places.

 

Ahh, makes sense. True about YouTube. This is why forums are the best resource for sharing knowledge. In my opinion. Easy to navigate, and have in-depth conversations.

Just checkin on the progress...

 

So here is the additional progress. Two vehicles worth.

The A/C soft lines are installed and the A/C charged and working. Just in time for summer. I'll need to rewire one of the electric fans to come on when the A/C button is pushed, but that isn't a necessity right this instant. I used Earl's Performance Speed Flex hose, and related fittings. I wish I didn't have to get that hard 90° but everything was on back order, and with the current state of affairs, I am ok with it.

 

As for my Bimmer, it has strange exhaust bushings. Already replaced them a few months ago. The Germans just like to think out of the box and create strange ways to solve problems. The exhaust which by the way has an abundance of Zero flex couplings, was bouncing around and hitting the body. Here is why. These are the muffler hangers.



For the time being, I needed to make something temporary, while I worked on repairing the destroyed ones. Welded these together and sandwiched some bushings between them and the chassis.



Ordered this two part polyurethane mixture from Smooth Flow, and got to work mixing and pouring last night.




There are some other methods that I have seen people use with loctite roofing polyurethane, which comes in a caulk tube. That takes a week or so to cure. This stuff above takes ~16 hours.

I didn't order any dye, simply because I didn't care. Could have made it a blue or red, but no one will ever see it. Except for on this page.







Turned out very nice. Firm.

Those bushings are the dumbest design ever, i had the pleasure last year. Nice work on the fill though.

 

That two part mixture is a polyurethane mixture. You are correct.

This is no joke. The simple oval design was clearly too peasant for them. Lol.

Keeping myself busy during the enjoyably long weekends. Reimagining my radiator overflow tank. The one it is replacing, was made during naive beginnings into weldcraft. To save a little coin, repurposing old material from other projects. Nearing completion.
