I had a little scare while waiting in the drive thru, I hear this loud tapping with my windows up and it sounded like a lifter making noise. I revved the engine as I am pulling up to the drive up window and it gets faster as I rev the motor. I'm going "oh great, what the hell is going on?" I open the passenger door and it's really loud, but I think to myself it was nice and quiet when I left the house, what changed?
Turned out to be a newer suv, Ford Exploder, behind me making all the noise. What scared me was as I was pulling up to the window he was pulling up behind me an I thought my truck was making the noise.
    Disaster averted!
Oh well, I wanted to post something while I was at home. Be safe!

Im looking at buying a 1st house, so budget is not the largest. Real estate lady took me to one the other day. I knew it was next to a main area in the city(specifically KFC) but in the online pics there was a fence and shrubs, making it seem more separated.
The entire time I was looking at the house, both when I was inside and out I was hearing the distorted speaker at the drive thru.

After looking at the house, the agent asked what I thought of the place. My only answer was "I hate KFC".

Welcome to direct injection, where it sounds like the engine has a lifter tick

Were they making a killer deal on the house since the drive thru was right next door?

This was definitely valvetrain noise from the other car behind me.

No, not really. House was on the market for about a week and my agent said she was told a offer was already on the house, they were just holding out for a better offer.

    OME and worth every penny.
In the future rest in the realization that these trucks don't have lifters. You do have VVT but that would prob. create a rotating sound if a failure happened.
