Anyone have any experience with this? I am wondering what exactly it does. If it has a noticeable difference and if it's worth the investment.

For what it's worth I have been using one on my 2016 for a few months now and I enjoy it. The unit basically creates greater throttle response which equals less pressure on the pedal for more rpms.

I'm not sure of the consensus on 2nd gens, but most 3rd gen users say that it seems like a greater improvement when used on a manual compared to the automatic. Or at least that's what I generalized from my research.

I have it on my 2017 and like it a lot
It gets the toco moving quicker and you will feel it. I also have auto trans and run mine set at city +1. Is it worth it yes for me and the way I like my truck. 5 minutes to install plug it in velcro the mount figure out where you want it set and done. 20191207_131255.jpg

I agree with @old man 895, it has been a good upgrade if you don't want to pay the extra for OV Tune. I got mine off of a member here so it was discounted but well worth it.

I keep mine on sport and like the extra response it provides

Awesome guys thanks. I do feel like i have to push the pedal down a lot to get it going. I came from having 3 4Runners to my first Tacoma and i thought something was wrong with it. I think I'll probably like the outcome. i appreciate your responses.

I have it on my 2nd gen. I have a TRD SC with 4.56 gears and I'm glad I added a pedal commander. It makes the engine respond more like a cable throttle body truck. The slight lag can be made to go away, but if you set it too aggressive it can be dangerous driving it at slow speeds. For every day driving and off-roading on the trails, I switch up the settings.

I have the pedal commander and I may be selling it if anyone is interested? I don't have the packaging it came in. I did use it for a while and yes it makes a huge difference! 36 different settings! Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Might have to replace velcro or use 3M double sided tape. $175.
    SOLD!!

I just got mine in today. Got installed in about 10 minutes. Definitely a noticeable difference in take off (even with city setting and set at 3). Very glad I purchased it.

I put mine next to the cubby hole on the left. Has to be on the smooth part or it unsticks.

Ran the wires between the small space opening between steering column and lower dash piece. Posted on right side of the steering column.

Is this the only “plug and play” tuner available for the Tacoma? Everything else I find is a reflash of ECU or requires laptop tuning abilities.
Also most of ya here look to be installed on 3rd Gens.... how’s it do on 2nd?

Installed mine at 20,000 miles and well worth it. Still trying to dial in the best setting, but for now I like the City +1 for my short commute.

finally getting some research time on this...not a programmer by any means just better throttle response.

so is there a handheld off the shelf tuner for the Taco or no?
