That's where I'm going with it now. I need longer track bolts though w/ the shim. I just e-mailed roofnest because I doubt home depot would have them and I don't really want to be in stores right now.

I need to do some adjustments to it, but it's acceptable now.

I think your best bet is to make custom crossbars that are higher. Similar to the DIY prinsu rack thread just without the side plates. Then it can sit like this. upload_2020-4-2_17-33-3.jpg

Yeah, I'm going to figure something out over the weekend. But for now it does work and it's stable. I was just up there w/ my 9yo and we didn't die.

In my opinion, that ladder needs to be more vertical. As it is now, most of the weight is going on where it connects to the tent, instead of down

How much space do you have from the cab to the tent in height? And it's mounted to the bed section I would imagine?

I scored a Tepui Ayer 2 this weekend!

(my first RTT. Mounted on my early gen KB VooDoo mid rack)

it’s def a buyers market right now for large ticket items on the secondary market.

I had a Kukenam 3 on order before the Covid closed their warehouse down.

I saved about $500 bucks going with the smaller setup.

now I need to look at some lights. My eno battery powered led string is not gonna cut it.

Any suggestions for what companies to look at?

    something like this would work.

I guess I could use xmas led string lights and plug into my bed outlet?

I’d be afraid of draining my battery accidentally.

    hmmm.

Do you have any pictures? I'm on the fence between the Ayer and kukeman. Curious how far back or forward you have it. I have a voodoo 18 in rack so similar mounting too

If you're looking for some pictures heres a few of my Ayer II on an older 18" tall VooDoo rack. I love it for myself. Two people is also doable, but a bit more cozy

As you can see I have it decently far forward

I have a set of these from another brand that I just pulled out of storage because of this thread. Thinkin I might have to string these up around the tent the next time I go camping

BTW, if anyone's curious, the set that I have pulls 4 watts, so it's pretty minimal.

This is just a waterproof led rope string off Amazon (actually the same ropes that was linked above here). However they aren't as bright as the picture looks like. Just a night shot from a camera, but they're enough light for what i'm using them for. Have it plugged into a basic 10000mah battery pack that charges your phone. Lasts through the night till i turn it off and fall asleep easily.

This is perfect. Thank you for showing me these pics. I really like how the ayer is like the exact size of the voodoo. It would mainly be me and my gf and we're not big people. I think the ayer would work great for what I'm looking for. I suppose I could always resell it and upgrade to a bigger size in the future if I need to.

Exactly. You said you had found a good deal on a used one right? Thats 100% the way to go imo for your first RTT
