So, I'm starting to look into building my 3rd gen TRD Off-Road a bit and I'm starting to evaluate my options. Not actually planning on pulling the trigger on anything for a few months, but I'm planning on keeping this truck for a long time so I want to do things right, and this stuff isn't cheap so I want to do it right the first time instead of burning my money on trying out multiple setups. Starting to do my research now so I can be sure on what I'm doing for my entire list before spending money on anything.

Basically, my truck's my daily and heavily used on the trail bone stock besides 265/75r16 KO2s(actual trails, not just forest roads. I'm often the only stock vehicle I see in a day and at any off-road meetup or event I attend I seem to have the highest ratio of pinstripes to aftermarket parts). I want to add some capability mods without ruining it on the road. Current list is skids, full sliders, front bumper/winch, maybe rear bumper, and lift. I want to lift it to properly support the weight I'm adding and help out my breakover/departure angles and articulation. I'm not really interested in bigger tires in the immediate future, and if I change tires from the 265/75s it'd be for 235/85s or 255/85s, I vastly prefer tall skinnies on the trail. It's also important to me to retain good on-road driving dynamics because that's still where it'll spend most of its time. I would like a bit stiffer ride and better body control, but without it being excessively harsh.

I'm really intrigued by Ironman's Foam Cell Pro kit. The engineering seems sound, and I've heard a lot of great things from Cruiser guys who run Foam Cell Pros. I'm just hoping I can find some real world impressions from people running them on third gen Tacomas because I haven't been able to find much. Interested in both road and trail performance, especially from people who are pretty confident they have the proper spring rates for the weight they're running.

Anything you do to make it more capable off road is a detriment to on-road behavior. If it's your daily that is heavily used on the trail, perhaps you will live with the trade offs.

You shock choice is on point; foam is cool in it's own right, and it has the word "Pro" in it. I'd add the steel components in order of need. For example, what are you hitting the most on trails you frequent?

Apologies for the delay, hadn't checked TW in awhile.

Yah, I know everything I add will be a detriment on the road, although Cruiser and GX guys I've talked to running Ironman FCPs all swear they perform as well as stock on road. I haven't actually met anyone running Ironman suspension on a Taco hence the question here, I was hoping maybe someone had some first hand experience with them on a Tacoma specifically. Chances are it won't be my dedicated daily for long, although it will be my ride-or-die reliable transportation for the foreseeable future. I want something sporty again, like maybe get back into another old BMW or maybe an NA Miata and that would get most of the daily duty.

And on the steel components I have a nice old dent in one of my door sills and my stock skids are pretty mangled so skids and sliders first. I also want to do the front bumper sooner rather than later, mostly so I have someplace to mount a winch seeing as I'm solo a lot. My rear bumper's seen better days too but I don't really see any reason to go to a steel one till it's torn off or embarrassingly mangled because it's not really protecting anything important.

@jasmits1 Have you pulled the trigger on an Ironman setup yet? I am itching to do it myself now that they're having a COVID19 sale.
