i have found quite a bit of old crunchy frame coating that is peeling off the metal and wanting to replace all of it in the back section
some (most) areas are hard AF to attempt to get at unless i have more head clearance for safety

i have a driveway and some decent ramps i have been using to get at underneath the cab, old bad neck and all, its always sore and stiff AF the next morning with headache after only a few hours under there the day before from last fall, most likely the same tortured thing this spring and early summer to finish under the cab.

so far I have not encountered any areas in need of welding thank goodness! everything i have checked looks legit and structurally sound, right now it just needs the old peeling coating removed, sanded out any surface crust on the steel, zinc acid washed and a couple coats of extreme chassis primer. I ran out of good weather last fall to try the extreme chassis topcoat and see how that looks under there

the jury is still out on exactly why this old frame coating is peeling off
somebody on TW once told me its due to age :notsure:

i just noticed you have a 2wd truck
how do you make it around in the winter? it must take some skills
i used to have that skill in the early 90s with a couple of RWD vehicles at the time, one had no working heat or defrost lol so there was another skill :drunk:

i love it, i purposefully wanted a 2wd, i plan on doing a swap in the future so a 3s or a UR swap figured it would be easyer....its great in winter iv got all terrain tires iv got no problems, plus anything i ever drove is rwd, starting from ae86s, supras, cressidas, iam always rwd...i like this :burnrubber::yay:

truck turned 140k under a blue Iowa sky today west of Missouri Valley,
lovin' the 1.61 gas not seen locally since before Hurricane Katrina in '05

this is what highway 30 looked like with the barriers in the '11 MO river flood via damn mismanagement upriver in SD
gas was 3.50 here then, it sucked to fill that tank with fuel

the last time i put 1.25 per G taco fuel there were NO 2nd gens on the road lol
it was in December 2oo3, over 16 years ago!

1,25 Sioux City IA CaseyGS gas ~ 3.jpg

1,25 Sioux City IA CaseyGS gas ~ 1.jpg

at that price i can get 1000 miles for roughly $66, even less if i had different tires than the duraTracs (which somehow have been sucking 2 or 3 MPGs on me for almost 30k miles :()
throughout most of the last decade+ it would cost in excess of $150 to get 1000 miles on the truck

i shall be looking into getting those on the next set! i am trying to estimate how far the duraTracs can go before needing replaced
    either those or the hankooks
or perhaps get another set of used wheels and have 2 sets, one for highway and the other for offroad / blizzard conditions

how many approximate miles are the falkens rated for?

good times in the windy city this past week, 2 nights on the concrete trail, cheap af taco fuel not seen since the truck was damned near new!
$25 per night lodging + cook county tax was not bad at all! very clean and comfy room
and $4.50 per hour meter parking, only spent an hour parked 11pm-midnight

Yep not a ton of super active first gens in the Midwest that I know of. There are a few guys in STL that pop in from time to time but not with much consistency.
