Few: An excellent rye, exceptional considering the <$50 price. I'll be buying several more bottles asap.

Springbrook: This is an odd-ball. Nearly no nose including alk, and very mild flavors. Maybe this will make for a nice hot summer afternoon dram, similar to someone enjoying a wheat beer over an intense stout?

You got some great suggestions already, so not much more for me to contribute, but I'll throw High West Campfire out there as an alternative to the scotches mentioned. It includes a Single Malt in the blend, but is more like a really smokey, high rye bourbon, to me. Deep, complex, and super rich. I love the stuff.

I thought the batches got better as the year progressed, with a huge leap from 1 to 2. I really liked 02 and 03, and thought 04 was better still.

I don't think it compares to the Van Winkle profile, personally. I'm not saying that based on the quality of the pour, but the overall flavor profile. Jefferson's uses rye as the third grain whereas the Van Winkles use wheat. That alone will put them in slightly different categories.

They make some really good and interesting stuff, though. Lots of fans for a reason!

I dipped in to my sample of WhistlePig Boss Hog Samurai Scientist. 16 year old rye whisky that is finished in Japanese plum wine barrels. Man, it is awesome. I think I liked last year's Boss Hog better, but we're splitting hairs.

The age leads to oak being prominent throughout all three phases. On the nose, there is a bit more leather, but if you stay in it, it settles to some rose petals. This is absolutely INCREDIBLE on the nose.

On the palate, it is notably rye, but there is a bit of toasted fennel and, again, some dried fruit. 61% ABV, so it awakens the lips and tongue. It's rye, it's earthy, and it has a dry fruitiness, and it's delicious.

The finish is nice and long. A little high cocoa dark chocolate comes out, but you really get the input of the plum wine barrels here. Think dried dates or something. It takes about 6 exhales before it finally (and regrettably) leaves.

My daughter made snickerdoodles last night. I found a great new combo (no pics...sorry).
Weller sr with the snickerdoodles. The cinnamon and butter from the cookie made the Weller's flavors explode on my palate!

Doing my part to support businesses during this crazy time, but doing so remotely. Mail order liquor! I got really lucky with the 6 year Willet. The Kaiyo is a unique single cask, cask strength store pick. Also got a bottle of Nikka from the barrel (like it very much and would be my daily if it were readily available).

I've been off whiskey for a little bit. Picked up a gallon of margaritas from one of the local Tex-Mex restaurants last night and my wife isn't really helping me drink it all.

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.

is this delivery from in state or out of state? Liquor can't be shipped from out of state to WA. I think I saw there was only a few states that you can get liquor delivered from out of state.

I bought these in state. Kentucky just passed a law allowing distilleries to ship out of state, so maybe you can order direct from there. California has a reciprocal law; we can buy from states that allow it to be shipped out, and can ship to those states (I think the wine industry was likely responsible for that).

I've tried and tried. Can't get bottles delivered to WA from out of state. They just recently allowed the delivery of liquor from in state stores.

What trips me out is how many states don't allow free enterprise, all American, non-communist privately owned liquor stores! State owned and prices set. Shi* like this makes me laugh out loud when some yahoo from one of those states makes snarky comments about California (or commyfornia as is popular).

Anyone have any tips on getting a bottle of Blanton's? I've looked all over the place in NorCal and cant secure one. I've found it online but for nearly double what I've seen it advertised in BM's.
