Second shock option is always nice. Maybe I'll have to incorporate a second shock tube mount if I gusset my crossover in that area.

While we're on that topic, have you ever ridden in a truck with a second shock? If so, does it make much of a difference in ride quality?

    I have not personally no.

However, it's one of those things that when people add them they go..I should have done that years ago. Had buddy who rode in a truck with dual bypasses up front and said it was awesome.

Now, there is a debate on if it is worth it on mid travel or not given the travel is lower than a LT truck. That I'm not so sure about. I'd always planned on doing secondaries on my LT rig before the MT one.

Nice! That would work great I bet!

So will you never weld the shock tower gusset to the tower itself?

Probably not, wanted to keep it removable.

Should I just cut the whole front end off and tube it? :annoyed:

Yeah I figured this day would come eventually. It doesn't help that there's two 50lb batteries in that corner.

Probably just going to weld them up for now and build a custom front end down the road.

I’m curious about your Columbia overland battery tray install. I bought one years ago and never installed it. I set the tray in there the other day and it seemed like I was going to need spacers for it to contact the fender. Do you have any pics of the tray installed with no batteries? I’m kind of wondering if I was sent a tray for a different application.

Unfortunately the only pics I have of it are installed. My upper battery plate sits about a 1/4'' off of the core support, and has to be pressed down a little bit to start the bolt, and then the bolt pulls the plate down snug to the core support. This is probably why I'm developing a crack there. It might be worth using a small spacer and longer bolt to relieve some stress from the core support as long as you can still get the batteries tied down tight enough to not move around.

Gotcha. Love your build! I’ve definitely taken a little inspiration from it for some of my future plans

Have you thought about moving your batteries elsewhere?
I don’t even jump my truck. I noticed cracks in that area so I moved the batteries to the back of the truck.

This. And LT. I don't have the money for fenders and LT but I would certainly do it if I could sell my whole front end to someone on here...

I thought about getting some fiberglass fenders and 35's but I'm just not sure how it would look without being LT.

I have, but hadn't had any problems with cracking until now. I don't like the idea of having the batteries open in the bed of the truck so I'll probably mount them up to the frame under the bed. Seems like a pain in the butt if I ever need to disconnect the battery though.

Edit: I suppose I could put a big anderson connector in the engine bay which would make it super easy.

Granted I was running 1.5'' wheel spacers. But still. Its not so bad.

Hmmm it's definitely temping. Doesn't look bad it all with 35's and I'm already running wheel spacers so that wouldn't be a problem.

    Which fenders are those?

If I went up to 35's I would also do the narrowest rear glass offered because I don't like the flare clip holes being exposed.
