maglite has a d-cell mounting bracket kit that costs around 5-7 dollars. i just got mine at ACE hardware. definitely will put it in the same place you did!

That what I did. ~$6 for the mag light mount at ACE Hardware, and stuck it in ~the same place as the OP.

maglite mount in my reg cab taco. took about 2 minutes and was a painless process

They sell the original mag lite mounts at the Bass Pro shop for $5.

Hi all, I’ve been wanting a Maglite for some time so I finally got one. It matches my interior and has enough power to locate addresses on dark houses when delivering pizza. I only have a regular cab and I didn’t want the light to roll around on the floor so I needed a mount. I’m aware of the Maglite mounts and the seat mod so I set out to find a mount. I looked around town at a couple of stores to find one but I couldn’t. It was getting late and I didn’t want to leave Lowe’s empty handed so I looked around for ideas. I came across some electrical conduit clamps.

They were gray and matched my interior so I purchased a 2” clamp package and a 1.5” clamp package for only $4. I also got some short screws and some washers for mounting. I also bought a conduit end cap but didn't end up using it.
I searched my truck for locations to mount the light. I couldn't mount the clamps on my seat or next to the door because the seat extends all the way to the door

I didn't want to mount it under the seat because I didn't want to drill into the floor board

So I decided to mount it by the driver side seat belt. The plastic would give me something to mount the clamps on easily

I chose a vertical alignment for easy removal and replacement when driving. I wanted the light to simply slide up and down in the mount.I checked to make sure the seat, seatbelt and light could move easily. I held the flashlight against the panel with the clamps on and traced the holes in the clamps to mark where the clamps would go.

Then I drilled out hte holes to a size where I could easily put in the screws without the screws falling out

Then put the screws through the washer and clamp and screwed them in tightly

Then I made sure the light would slide in and out easily without rattling around while driving

The bottom of the light rests on the panel that covers the seatbelt spool by the floor. The seat goes all the way back just fine and the seatbelt retracts and pulls out just the same. The only problem I have is where the light rubs against the top seatbelt thingamajig. I just move the seatbelt thing and the light slides out perfectly.

So what do you guys think? How would this $5 mount compare the actual maglite mount?

Looks good but I just spent $5 at bass pro shop for the real maglite mount. Real happy with it. Way to be creative though
