I have a 08 tacoma, v6, with a auxiliary battery in the camper. I purchased a 95 amp battery isolator for dual battery setup. The diode type metal with heat sinks. My problem is it appears the alternator feeds fuse box, then to battery. I am not sure what to do on the wiring. I appreciate help on this. Also unsure what wire is excited for the isolator. Yes I have searched this issue on the forum

I would pull the alternator wire off wherever it stops and connect that to the isolator. Jumper back to where the alternator wire was and the last post for the 2nd battery.

"This battery isolator is designed for alternator output up to 95 Amp."

If you have the factory tow package, you have a 130A alternator.

The isolator will be fine because power will be split to the fuse box. It’s the alternator that is going to strain as it is designed for a single battery setup, especially if the auxiliary battery is depleted. At a minimum, increase gauge of alt cabe to fuse box as well as ground wires.

@Mad dawg Look up the "Big 3" upgrade. A relatively simple and cost effective improvement to your wiring system. You replace the following wires with thicker gauge wiring: Alt to fuse block; battery to chassis ground; and engine to chassis ground. On this last one, you can keep the current cable and just add another engine to chassis cable at two different points. The tricky part is getting the right connections. I think a member here sold a Big 3 kit. For what your original question about splitting power, you can use a junction power block; see Fastronix #406-251.
