Smokey will come at a gallop any time he hears the can opener, which in my mind is more evidence that he was previously a housecat and not actually a feral like the shelter thought, since neither we nor they ever fed him canned food...But he'll 'sample' anything you give him, which means he'll take it, carry it off, and an hour later you'll step on the chewed-on remains somewhere in the living room. :notsure:

Toni likes pasta, but only long stringy pasta that she can whip around and tangle up in her fur and spend hours getting it out. And cod, but not haddock.

Orange Cat Arthur approves of this rubber band policy, and sends his best to his intrawebs brother.

The boys don't really care for people food, but Ginger goes nuts for ham, bacon, or anything else pork-based. Our old cat Pumpkin (RIP) used to love corned beef, and Blackie (RIP) would go crazy any time we opened a jar of green olives. He would never eat one, but the brine seemed to get him going like catnip. I spilled some on the counter once and quickly wiped it up. When I came back later to do a better job he was rolling around on the spot where the spill was. My friends black cat does the same thing - wonder if it's a black cat thing.

Interesting. Otis (tuxedo) won’t go for beef at all. Other then fish, his odd quirk is garlic. He comes running for the smell and wants to taste it so bad. We have to block him while he smells it so he can’t lick the bowl or pan. We make salsa or spaghetti sauce and he won’t get out of your shit.

That’s our fear. When I make the sauce, I have to rinse the spoon each time I stir it. He’s a pretty untrustworthy cat!

    Kind of strange.
But, from what I've read about trench warfare, Mustard Gas usually smelled like a sweet spicy mustard, and Lewisite smelled like Geraniums (or was it lilacs? I don't remember). So maybe there's something to liking the smell of things that'll kill you?

I could change it to an analogy about liking the smell of pipe tobacco if you'd prefer?

Harry (aka Munch) loves snack food - Cheesits in particular. He'll also beg fro scraps at dinner. He's the only one of our three that will do this.
That's about where Ollie & Harry are at now. :D

Ideas ............. Chime on in with some creativity. Both my cats are outside property cats and have been living outside since they were about 7 weeks old. They’re a year old this month and absolutely hate inside. Cats love high perch spots to overwatch. I want to build some platforms up about 6 feet or so on a few trees. I have my ideas , but I’d like to here yours ??? Show me something cool so my cats will love their sniper perches , but I want them to blend in to the natural surroundings

No pics, but my grandfather installed (lag bolts into studs) shelving above his kitchen curtain rods to keep the cat (Maine Coon) from using the curtains as a perch. He'd jump onto the counter, then on top of the cabinet, then straight to the curtains - bringing them down with a crash. Using the shelves saved the curtains and gave Smokey a safe place to observe his domain.

Perhaps use floating shelves as a way to permit safe transit to feline overwatch?
