I’m finally ready to purchase the OV Tune for my 2018 Tacoma so I went exploring the Orange Virus website trying to find what I needed to purchase. I figured I’d have to buy a cable and a software key or something. I was excited to throw some business their way as well since they posted in Tacoma World that business has taken a sharp downturn since the Coronavirus. I couldn’t find any software keys, cables, or anything. I sent them an email and this is the response I got:

“at this time we are no longer offering tuning kits for any vehicles.
Instead, we are offering tuning software, here : https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/vf/products/vf-tuner-software

The list of supported vehicles are on that page. We are working on support for all.
Example tunes will be provided with the software for various vehicles we have tuned”

I went to the link he provided but it was only $380 (instead of the normal $700 I’ve seen around here) and there’s no mention of Tacoma in the compatibility list. Perhaps they’re adding the Tacoma to that list, maybe that’s what he meant when he said “we are working on support for all”? I’m confused by his last sentence too: “example tunes will be provided with the software for various vehicles we have tuned”.

Does anyone have a little more info on this? What’s the status of Orange Virus? When or even if the tune will be available for our trucks? What’s that last sentence mean, does the example get us in the ball park and then we have to tune ourselves from there?

No more flash kits are available unless something in future changes. Now everyone is on stand by until he releases vf tuner software for users to custom tune their own trucks. He’s done with tuning Tacoma’s once 2.0 is released.
