Figured I would start a little thread on this. Whether it's your typical setup, tips & tricks, etc - feel free to discuss. It's always been awesome to see different setups and what people do out there.

I think it would be great to learn more about this as far as skills go, probably benefit a lot of people. If this thread grows, I would be happy to add some links for reference if it helps people.

Came across this guys channel a while back and his videos are great. No talking or anything, but it has a lot of good information.

Wanted to take up flintknapping again, always looking for fresh antlers, I find this a couple of days ago:

I got 2 billets, 4 pressure flakers, and one experimental whole-hand pressure flaker:

Any desperate deer hunters willing to settle for a antlerless skull for a trophy, pm me for a discrete exchange :D.

BushcraftUSA.com is another forum I used to haunt.
Haven't been able to get much woods time, but got some trips planned for the next few months.
Joe is great, as is TA Outdoors. Also, MCQBushcraft is who got me down the path in the first place. Mors Kochanski (who recently left us RIP) at Karamat Wilderness Ways is the OG for modern Bushcraft. Dave Canterbury, for all his past flaws, is a great source of information.

My 'real' start was SERE class in the USAF.

I prefer to not sleep on the ground, I use a simple hammock and tarp set up. I use a surplus MSS for now. I want to try overnighting in a wool blanket soon.

My buddy and I always bring some nice steaks to cook. One time I forgot the grill so we improvised with some thin flat rocks

Bought a 1" scotch eye auger. Pretty cool and useful tool.

Now starting to put together two kits:
    - fire starter
    - wood working

Picked up a Morakniv with the fire stick thingy.

Slowly adding gear. Good deal on the Morakniv. $45 on Amazon.

Through different forums, I've met up with the Bushcraft crowd on group camping trips.
Even though my equipment is pretty high tech, I know enough bushcraft myself but enjoy sharing a fire with people who make their own gear and hone their skills with others on group trips.
Always had a great time sipping Chaga tea and looking at home made gear.
Through outdoor forums, I have been out and stopped counting how many people I have met.
All the bushcrafters have been really solid folks.

The wife carried a Mora Bushcraft Black and we keep a Companion in the truck.

Our preferred Saw is the Silky Ultra Accel Curved (sometimes the Agawa Canyon Boreal 21)

We like the tools but we like getting out and using them more. I’ll have to get some photos next trip out and share some of our fires/shelters/camp cooking.

We’re not huge prepper/survivalist junkies or anything. Just enjoy living the old way with some modern comforts when possible ha.

Really hoping to build our own homestead in years to come! Maybe 5-10 from now or so.
