General Paint Care

Hey everyone.
I've done lots of reading but I'm still a bit unsure.
I have a 2015 with normal wear tear and a few scratches.
Only one is down to primer.

So far I've settled on 3d One for paint repair and general polishing.

Does this seem right?
And does anyone know where to find in Canada.

Next I'm going to need something to buff and polish.

Just looking for something basic that will get the job done.

If there's a kit anyone can recommend that would be great too.

My goal is to remove blemishes as best I can then maintain the Tacoma and 2019 Rav.

You're on the right track. 3D One is a pretty good single stage polish. It should remove minor and mild scratches, but the cut/polish will depend on what type of pad you'll be using.

Not sure where you can buy it in Canada, but you may have some luck on eBay or Amazon?

 

The kits are always hit or miss as they contain some good items and then some items not so great. Autogeek has a lot of kits to choose from for any given machine but unless you want all those extra items usually you can just wait for a 25% off sale and get those items from the kit that cheap anyway. Those sales usually never apply to the actual machines.

I'd recommend the Griot's G9 as a good overall starter machine. Plus it has a lifetime warranty and isn't that much more expensive than the Chinese knock offs. Definitely recommend 3D One though you don't likely need much cut for either Toyota vehicle. That means stick to buying mostly pads on the medium cut to polishing side. Do get at least one heavy cut foam or even a microfiber pad for the worst blemishes. Griot's BOSS pads are a great choice but the brands Lake Country and Buff and Shine are great too, though they have multiple lines to choose from. I'd recommend you get multiples of medium cut and multiple polishing pads. Even with brushing or air blasting pads at some point it needs to be cleaned, rather than clean on the fly switch over to a new fresh pad. I think people make the mistake of stretching a pad too long so you end up just spending time rubbing the oils of the abrasive all over the paint and not achieving much else. Do follow up with a paint prep spray (Carpro eraser, Gtechniq panel wipe etc...) before applying a sealant/coating.
