    Hey All,

Doing a Moab trip in the next week. Wondering how the stock TRD offroad tires will hold up for the trails. Will they be sufficient enough, or should i drop the money now and just get a set of mud or better A/T tires for the trip?

    Appreciate any advice!

Full size spare? And what trails are you planning on running?

Most folks are absolutely fine with stock tires: I wouldn't move up a planned replacement more than a month or two, and I wouldn't buy new tires just for the trip.

Be aware of your sidewalls, and you will slip a little more than on good aftermarket tires, but slickrock is beautifully grippy when you're aired down.

In Moab i plan on doing Fins and Things and Hell's Revenge. Current stock tires only have about 15k on them. I'll be sure to air down and just take things slow.

You'll be completely fine on those trails with stock tires.

Might want to put something in your hitch, you're probably going to drag your rear a few times on Fins, and if you do the full Hells trail go slow through the rock garden at the end. Otherwise come on down and enjoy!

Was awesome, truck did great! I do have Kings suspension so that certainly helped but the tires did just fine.

    Moab is truly something special.

I haven't been out in a couple years again, but that place is something special. What did you guys end up running for trails?

I think the stock setup on 3rd gen 4x4s is mostly underrated. Not the Rubicon or anything but I recently ran all over the GW National Forest with a bunch of guys in way more capable trucks and the stock SR5 with “mini-van” tires did just fine on some pretty gnarly trails and stream crossings. Don’t get me wrong, I’m upgrading tires and suspension soon, but I think we underestimate stock setups.
