Hey TW! Now that I finished headlights 0 Degree sliders are on my list. I live in the SW so there really isn't anything to slide on. Right now I have Predator Steps that came with the XSP-X package

    What I want:
0 Degree for easy entry/exit for my wife and 2 lil ones
    body/door ding protection

    Do I need:
    Filler plates? Full or partial?
Powdercoat? My front and rear bumpers are Line-X'ed

    Price:
I'd like to stay around the $750 mark including shipping

    Bolt on or Weld on?
A guy local-ish has done a ton of weld jobs. I'm not against welding but I like the idea of removal if I ever needed to.

I've owned my 2013 for almost 5 years now. It's paid off, 110K on it and I don't plan on selling it really ever. Thanks for the input!

Sliders aren't very good door ding protection. Door dings hit high. Just look at the shape of the rear door of any family wagon. They don't stop shopping carts either, I've tested this. If you don't actually need sliders for slider purposes they'll be an expensive downgrade in every way from the steps you already have.

They will prevent every non suv door ding which from what i've seen is the ones who actually swing their doors all the way open to get in and out of the their vehicle easier. Much more effort to get in and out of a car than an suv or truck, and those that need the extra help tend to need the extra door space and open it wide. Just my .02

But I agree, I don't think I would spend the money on sliders just to protect form door dings.

You could probably fix several door dings for less than the price of sliders too.

Shhh it's their justification for "off-road" parts on their mallcrawlers

I can definitely see what you're saying here. I think it's about 50/50 on serving as an upgrade.

As someone who works in DC, I can tell you that my sliders have saved my doors so many times. I sprayed them with bedliner and there’s all of these little rust spots from where a door has opened into my sliders and chipped the bedliner. There’s also a large rub where someone hit the slider while trying to pull into a spot next to me and it completely saved my doors.

Filler plates I feel help with using them as steps, especially at 0 deg. For your situation, it might be a good idea to include them.
At 0 deg, the protection drops from, say, the 20 deg sliders. I would tend to compare the 0 deg angle to running boards. Helps, but I can see a difference in protection on my 20 deg sliders vs running boards.
I'd go with bolt-on purely because you can remove it later if you want. Weld-ons are cheaper though which would help meet you budget.
I ordered my sliders uncoated and painted it myself. I continue to touch it up with the same paint if it scratches off. That said, if powder coating or Line-X-ing it is in your budget, go for it. Fends off minor stuff better.

Some sliders aren't purely bolt-on and may require drilling additional holes in your frame. Hope you're able to find what you're looking for.
