If you play with it while driving, you'll inevitably drift out of your lane. My long answer is yes. The non-sarcastic long answer is no, it won't. All you're doing is tapping a 12V line and adding a 5V line after the adapter steps down the voltage.

Does anyone know how many amps the mirror circuit can supply?

See post #229. There is a 10amp fusefeeding the unswitched circuit and a7.5amp fuse feeding the switched circuit going to the mirror. Whether or not the wires of the connector at the rear of the mirror will actually carry that much current is another question.

I see mixed answers across the web. For those with their front tinted. Are you mounting the cam below the tint strip ?

I put the adhesive mount of the Garmin mini on my tint strip, and the lens sits below it. Its weight seems negligent when thinking about the tint peeling off

I went with the garmin minis for front and rear. I'm going to do this install tomorrow with the mirror port adapter. I think with the small size of the cams, it's discrete. Theadapter means you don't have to hardwire. As long as you have some floor mats in the back, the rear should be just as clean, bring the cord around and under the mat to the USB plugs on back of the console.

You can put any size sd card in the minis (I got a pair of 128gb for all of ~$30), and an easy to use app allows you to capture footage, download updated, and do picture in picture.

No brainier for me! Hope this helps. Hopefully I'll be able to have install pics/video tomorrow or the next day.

has anybody mounted two garmin mini dash cams, one facing forward and one facing rearward, and using a two into one usb splitter into that adapter so you can view front and rear? I realize it wouldnt get that great of a rearward view, but wondering if anyone has tried this?

I installed both Garmin Mini's (front and rear) just like Stormpeacock did in post 269 above. Using the Garmin Drive app, you have the capability to view front and rear camera's simultaneously; no need for a usb splitter. Very easy installation as Stormpeacock performed above.

HP11 is correct. The Garmin App takes care of the splitting.

Ditto - plugged in and waiting on the mini. I have a topper but would like to figure out a rear facing too.

Dang it. This is the same plug for wife’s Honda CRV. Now I have to order another so we can use dashcam in her car. Always in Chicago and really need the video.

The picture you posted is a 14-pin connector. Dongar doesn't list any 14-pin Simple USB adapters on their website.
You may have to use the universal type adapter shown on their site.

IMG_20200426_184457.jpg Update here with some install of Garmin minis front and rear with the dongle.

    Before:IMG_20200425_175332.jpg

After (polarized cap and 6in right angle plugs):
    IMG_20200425_175738.jpg
Especially with a little glare, you can't see this thing.
    IMG_20200425_175824.jpg

    Rear:
(Might bring the cord upwards of it seems too noticeable over time)
    IMG_20200425_180728.jpg
    IMG_20200425_180734.jpg
    IMG_20200425_180742.jpg
    IMG_20200425_180749.jpg

    Update:
I moved the rear facing cam to sit behind the the head rest in the back. Can't see it at all while driving, and the shadowing of the headrest reduces visibility from the exterior so that no one will see the cam unless they are really looking for it.
