It is a messy job, need to have plenty of rags.
They are not hard to rebuild, just need to make sure you get all the old grease out. The rebuild Kits come with 2 boots, 4 clamps and all the grease you need for around $40.

From Toyota a rebuilt CV cost $140 to $200 and new is around $375

 

So I could have 3 rebuilt axels for $240

Or check with local Toyota Parts department they may be cheaper and no shipping, I got mine at a Toyota dealer for $40.

 

I think there are some silicone boot kits available. I will consider it the next time I have to reboot one.

 

They are a few silicone kits, a lot of 1st gen guys have been running Porsche 930 neoprene boots for a long time. I can't find any info that compare either of them to OEM.

I was lazy. Only a wash. Inside still dirty. No detail. Did wash off my floor mat. It had a ton of red mud.

 

Clay bar and wax going on today. Tire rotation as well.

I get most of my stuff from Lagrange, depending on the size shipping is usually $8 and some change. They're also super helpful with finding parts. I've even had them call me when I ordered parts that didn't match my vin, I've got parts from 01-04s and tundras...

Totally! They're almost double, I asked about price matching once, I forget the price, but including shipping it was still way cheaper and they acted like I was crazy. I prefer to but locally, but they just want to rape you. With Lagrange the turn around time from planning order to my doorstep is usually 2-3 days

 

If I'm ambitious, they usually have it next day for pickup.

Will do! I was going to order a Tom woods but I think I’m going to try to use an OEM and see if I have vibes. If I do I will order a one piece Tom woods.

 

Lynch would be $75. I can't justify that, especially with all the parts I buy.
