What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

What bumper is that ? I think i have the same came with my truck

 

Frame is prepped, cleaned, and POR15’d. Now to pull the double cab outta the garage, and block it up next to the donor frame, so I can move brake lines over, install the gas tank, rear springs and axle, and get it ready to move the cab to its new skeleton!

 

There are some bare patches. I ran outta POR15 last night

 

I have a spare of those if you want, that I can give a good deal on. PM me.

I never thought how much extra weight can be added by the spool too... Maybe that's why my Dakar's don't hold up for shit.

 

Not today but progress over several weeks. Ripped off @Reh5108 design and made a jerry can carrier for under my bed.

Does anyone happen to have a picture of the outside bed structure with the bedside off? Specifically at the front of the bed where the support wraps around to the side.

@Squeaky Penguin this spot? This is a double cab tho. I do have some shots of the Xtracab frame before I cut the mounts off. I’ll find one.

 

About the best I have of the Xtracab frame.

 

Mine took a beating last year. Have the “heavy” ones, and I added an add a leaf. I’ll see how it is this year, worst case, my local spring shop can add another leaf, a thicker one, to the pack.

 

I don't but look up fiber glass bed side install. I'm sure you'll find one that way.

The amount of spot welds I had to drill out was traumatizing. Lol

 

I’ve been wondering about this too. I’d like to put disks on the rear, but use my parking brake a lot (I’m manual trans) to the point where I think a line lock would be inconvenient.

 

I'm not a fan of having a line lock in replacement of an e-brake because if for some reason you have a brake failure, your line lock will not work either.

It looks like the guy making this kit in the link is coming out with an e-brake solution soon.

Ultimately I'd like to put two of these calipers on the rear axle and have one set of brakes going to a hydro brake handle in the cab. I wouldn't be apposed to putting a line lock on that system, that way you at least have two braking systems in case of a failure.
