I’d plan to avoid interstates and use US routes, especially across the plains states, as you can. Being older highways they were build with the land instead of being bulldozed through and are a lot more interesting to drive, if a bit slower. Oh and hope you don’t get pulled over for breaking a bunch of states stay-at-home orders and the various bans on non-essential community to community travel.

Well gas should get cheaper, oil is less than $1 a barrel today, -$14 in Canada, not even sure how that works.

Just checked again now 14 cents a barrel.

That is awesome!! I had really good friends who did the same trip and some are still there and a few have come back, like myself. I lived there for three years, met my wife there, and have nothing but good memories of Seattle. My wife and I love going back to visit, but we fly now with the little one. When she is older, we would like to do the trip again to show her some some of this beautiful country.

Well, it's done. We did it. Thanks to everyone for the advice on routes to take. We ended up heading from New Hampshire to NYC to check it out while there. Parked in New Jersey to take the subway to avoid the NYC traffic, but wish we would have just taken the Tacoma into the city... There was zero traffic anywhere in downtown! Everything was also closed, so didn't spend too much time there. Hopped on US86(?) up to Owego, NY and spent the first night. Then, as lame as it sounds, we ended up taking I-90/I-80 to Davenport, IA. On the way, got gas in Cleveland, OH, $0.89/gal!!! Wow! Third night was spent in Ogallala, NE. Fourth day we were home in Colorado! It was a trip, maybe not necessarily one to remember since everything everywhere was closed... Ate at fast food joints the whole way minus a breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Not complaining, but definitely trying different restaurants while traveling is part of the fun. The truck did fantastic, 2,489 miles total. Really happy and glad I finally found the MT I wanted in a TRD OR package. Here's to many more miles on this Taco!

Sounds like a great trip despite the current events!

Now, check your truck's ECU ID. Flash the TSB update if it hasn't been done. Then get your OVTune on!

I doubt they got fooled.. It's a Toyota dealership - they knew what it was.. Back in my VW days GTI's and GLI's, and hell, even my Golf R was labeled as a Golf - even through the Registry and insurance.. Cheap car toinsure because the VIN decoded it as a "Golf". Now, they probably did steal it from the previous owner though..

I would have thought so too, but it was actually a trade-in at a Ford dealership. They had it listed online as an SR with an automatic transmission. The pictures and VIN said otherwise...

    congrats!

i actually bought my truck right before the quarantine started. as soon as they announced things would be closing down, i went to the dealer and bought a cement TRD OR that i had been eyeing on the dealers website. figured it was now or never, but now i kind of regret it because i probably could have snagged a much better deal if i had been patient and waited a few weeks for the dealerships to start getting desperate.

Nice Truck! Houston didn't have what I wanted, so we flew to Atlanta, GA on a Friday in January, bought the truck, had dinner, stayed the night, and drove home 11 hours on Saturday! Now I'm home with EXACTLY what I wanted! Never get forced in to something "on the lot."
