Anyone use a heat reflective tape on their intake components to keep temps lower? I'm considering purchasing mishimoto gold heat reflective tape for a few things around the engine.

My belt is starting to show a little cracking at 35k miles on it. Running a 2.85" pulley. What your guys' favorite online supplier for a replacement?

I just lifted my bed up and held it up using our bottlejack that came with the truck. You aren't the only one who is all bssackwards.

The sliding the bed trick works on long bed. It’s pretty hard to get my hand under the cab to pull the pump out in a short bed. I’ve only done the pump swap on an LRA tank though. Maybe the stock tank is easier to get to.

The only issue I had with dropping the tank was removing the plastic cover off the top that covers all the connections. That mofo did not want to come off and there wasn’t a lot of room to work with. After I finally got it off, everything else was easy.

I would tacos the bed method if I didn’t have a ton of stuff installed on the back. removing all of that would make it 5x linger install. Not to mention installing it again.

Ordered two belts from Rock Auto. One to replace the current and another to keep in the truck as a spare.

How many miles do people usually get from these?

Pressed on the hub flush but pretty sure it needs to go on a bit more. Went with the 2.8 for now but 2.5 is in the workbench ready to go. Where should the belt sit on the pulley below. It’s close to the edge now. wanted to see what you folks say before I press on further. I don’t want to go too much the other way. A few shots of the setup now.

Yeah might need to go on another 1/16" or so. If I remember right I used a couple washers in front of the press tool. Use a straight edge across the two pulleys to make sure they're aligned.

Yah that’s kind of what I’m thinking. Use a washer or 2 and press a bit farther. Need to see if I have some that big. it def needs 1/16-1/8 more it seems.

First off thanks to everyone who gave me tips @12TRDTacoma and @mightytacoman who I had some direct advice.

Still the best thread and group on TW.

I was holding off on posting until I had some good news. After I busted a 2nd bolt in the the S/C snout things got a little questionable. On the second one I botched the extraction big time. Between getting frustrated, having my kid trying to “help” I only made things worse. I called around seeing if I could find someone to help. With current shelter in place I would be lucky to find someone. I ended up hiring up Colin at Dynamic Machine Service it was a random guess. They repair heavy machinery and it turned out he’s big car guy. For a nominal fee he helped me out. He came out to my house, measured the snout and cut a perfect sleeve that fits over the snout. I hope no one else goes through it but if you do there will be a specialty tool to help with I extraction if it comes to it.

On the issue to tackle, I messed up and drilled my pilot hole off center. I almost extracted it but ended up messing up threads at the end and the bolt was stuck.

We got it extracted after a few back and forth visits. Then the snout needed to be re-tapped to clean up the threads.

Watching that bolt come out was one of those moments of relief thats for sure. After that it was going to be a hand wrenching job. Was not taking any chances. That did take a looooong time!

Almost had a WTF moment today with the URD pulley press tool. Threads on the end stripped out. In a way I was lucky I had the Tap. Cleaned it up and almost finished it off (need to press another 1/8”).

    lessons learned:
    • Take your time
    • Get help if you get in a jam
    • Repeat take your time
    • DO NOT USE AN IMPACT to do this (also this has been added to page 1)

The real hero! This guide made by Colin at Dynamic Machine Service saved them day.

What a sight to see a bolt threaded all the way in.

Almost thought I wouldn’t get to this without some extreme extraction or rebuilding the s/c with a new snout.
