So I bought the HD OME Dakar leafs from Headstrong Offroad along with bushings, new rear shocks, and extended brake lines. Getting ready to install everything next week! I have tried to search the forum as much as possible but cannot find anything definitive. Will my stock shackles and shackle hangers be able to handle the leaf pack properly or do I need to upgrade to longer shackles/beefier shackle hangers. Any benefit in installing them for the 2.75"-3" lift the Dakars will give me?

Easier to install all at once and just double checking that I don't run into issues down the line. Thanks TW family

They'll work just fine. But imo the @ARCHIVE hammer hangers are the route to go if you want to be one and done. The 3.6 shackles w\ cross tube :muscleflexing:

Yes, you can use oem shackles. W/ the dakars you might gain an extra 1/4" of lift w/ that setup. Some extra droop in rear suspension and improved road manners is what I see most people reporting when using the HH. I haven't installed mine yet to give personal feedback. Hit their vendor section and the hammer hanger thread for all the info. It's a long read but a lot of good info and you can get an idea on whats involved w/ the install too.

Yeah as mentioned you’ll be just fine running stock shackles and hangers, loads of people do.

If you’re on the fence about upgrading though the hammer hangers are a worthy purchase.

Thanks for the info guys, greatly appreciate it. Definitely think I am going to go ahead and order a set. I've read up on the hangers, but what would be the primary benefit of going with the 3.6" shackles and the hangers vs sticking with stock shackles and adding the hangers?

His shackles are pretty much for those that just want extra beef, plus they’re greasable for ease of maintenance. I wheel pretty hard and am on stock shackles with no problems.

I just purchased a set of the hammer hangers and 3.6 shackles this morning. Talked myself into it after commenting on your thread

I have been running OME Dakars with stock shackles for 3 years now without issues. Before you throw the Dakars on make sure you swap out the front oem style bushings to some poly ones to save yourself some headache further down... see this thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/change-the-front-bushings-in-your-dakars.479071/

also, i believe with the archive hangers there is an issue with one of the overload leafs being too long and hitting the hanger.. read thru the archive thread its in there somewhere

On the new style Dakar’s both bushings are poly so no need to do any bushing swapping.

I believe the issue you’re referring to is when Dakar’s get flexed out, the leafs can fan out. The second leaf in the pack can get jammed into the shackle so the fix is trimming it back ~3/4”. With op set up however with the shorter shocks, I don’t think it’ll be an issue.
