Just curious....when you bought your 4Runner did you look at or even consider the Lexus GX

470/460 series ? Living in Utah....I see many many 4Runners on the highway passing through

on Hwy 6 or I-70 Or bumming around the Swell..(my turf) Maybe even one of you guys/gals..

In January we sold our '05 Tacoma SB DC and replaced it with this '11 GX 460 Premium w/95K

miles...2 owners from AZ & NV..This is my wife's DD and she loves it ! She actually named

her 'Nancy' at first..now after the mods (Iron Man bumper this week) she's gonna re name

her 'Nasty Nancy' So my question ? 4Runner vs Lexus GX 460 ? What cha think ?

I like the Lexus and would have considered one on the used market had I not gone new. I just prefer the looks of the 4runner and the price difference new vs. new didn't warrant paying a 10k+ premium imo. Plus i'm a sucker for that roll-down rear window.

Basically bigger/worse gas mileage. For me the more nimble and reasonably priced 4Runner was all up sides. Less luxury/weight and better mpg is fine by me :)

I think I would prefer the V8 over the 4.0L but I've not driven either. I like the GX460's though.

The 4th Gen 4Runner has the V8 and all time 4WD. I’d get the first gen Tundra before that if I needed a V8 to pull anything. The length and weight help. But if for some reason someone wanted a shorter wheel base AND the V8 the 4Runner is great!

Wifey just got the 06 Lexus GX 470 Prem. We already enjoy it so much. It is super spacious and everything works like a dream (even 15 years old). We are stoked to mod this thing out! We have had a 4runner and nothing compares to this thing. That V8 4.7 liter does great on the trails.. Not the best on gas though!

A few have a V8 and all time 4wd, good luck finding one in decent condition for a reasonable price.

Do you have the original air suspension on it or do you have it changed out?

Saw one just yesterday for 7 or 8k. Don’t remember, not in the market yet.

I wouldn't say a "few". Maybe it's a location thing but I see them all the time here in East TN. A while back I found one with extremely high mileage but in great shape for $4,500. The 4.7L is one of their most reliable engines they have ever made though. The mileage doesn't scare me.

Cut & broke off some stuff.
I was mixed between 460 or 4R. Ended up in 4Runner just because of price. Only once did I wish I had the 460 and that was only because I wanted to do something that needed higher towing rating.
    Both are awesome trucks though.

    IMO the GX460 is better.
    - Prefer the GX460 V8 over the V6
    - GX interior is MUCH nicer than the 4Runner
    - GX is a better value used. 4Runners are terribly overpriced/under optioned.
    - 4Runner gets better mpg.....but the $5K - $10K saved on a GX buys a lot of gas.
    - Higher roof line on the GX is better for me (kid in car seat)

For me looks are a wash. I think stock for stock the 4Runner is better looking only because of the hideous Lexus predator front grill. With a front bumper on the GX they are on equal playing field with "generic SUV looks"

If the GX had the LC or 4Runner rear hatch and a less ridiculous grill would be perfect IMO
