The sun kills those suction cups pretty fast in my opinion. There are some Go Pro Kits that come with 3M double sided automotive adhesive that seem to work really well. Mine has stayed put since I attached it and we had some extremely hot sunny days since then.

No error message here, and to my surprise fairly quick access to view the videos on the app. Also, can set it up to view on my phone as its recording live. Able to take a picture and save from the phone within the app in real time. Drove for a bit today, the camera stayed on the acceptably warm side not hot enough to cause any concerns.

I tried the Garmin suction but I had it up high. I read an article that said this area on the windshield is called the frit or something and suction mounts don’t work well there due to bumps.

Any of these adapter cables have a tap for the 12 volts in the 12 pin port?

Nice. I finally decided on this location as it gives the best field of view to both sides. Mounting higher significantly reduces the camera capture either left or right. This mounting location hides the mini from drivers view, allows easy SIM removal but it does make the camera more visible from the outside.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I just installed them front and back. Yes on the wifi, and video seem's pretty good. But I may be taking them out. The front camera drops connectivity frequently, and sometimes when it is connected, it shows the rear camera view. Not sure if its the app or something else. I'n going to give their customer service a chance at it before I pull them.

the dongar adapter provides 1.5 amps with the 12v to 5v step down converter. looks like the thing you link outputs 1.5 amps as well.

Someone else asked about the garmin mini ball mount size. 8.5 mm.

You can use this calculator. But you need to know the power requirements of the Garmin. For instance, 5vdc at 1amp will provide 5 watts, which is 5000 milliwatts. The mini probably uses several hundred milliwatts, so it should be ok. But someone that owns a mini will have to check the power requirements in the documentation.

Thank you, I have the mini/dongar combo but I didn't know its output.
I have the mini and have scoured the paperwork and interwebs to no avail looking for electrical specs

Sounds good. My next idea was to get a female 12v outlet and just plug the included adapter in and run the wiring
