Leather Seat Care

I've seen a couple different posts about leather interior but none on how to clean and care for leather interior.
I thought I would share a little of my own info on this topic.
Mistake number one when it comes to cleaning. People use the wrong cleaners and don't realize they are doing damage to the leather. Most basic everyday car cleaning solutions contain alcohol and other ingredients that are harsh to leather. This can cause drying and cracking.
I have been using a leather cleaning and conditioning kit that has been great. Lexol Leather Cleaner and Conditioner Kit. Easy to use. I put each product in its own spray bottle and used with a damp cloth. It does come with an applicator if prefered. It has just a light real leather scent which is nice. I hope this helps with the cleaning and care of your leather interior.

 

Lexol's been around for years. Great products.

 

I use Shine Supply's Leather/Interior Cleaner and chase that with their Leather Conditioner.

 

If plain water doesn't work, Then I use Mothers leather cleaner and conditioners. Since it's the same stuff as the Lexus brand.

I also use Leather Master products.

I don't use anything that contains any UV protectant.

 

I might try this I've been using meguiars leather products it's alright but comes off to shiny/ glossy for me

 

It's not real leather, so I would imagine you don't have to go too invested in products, I use adam's cleaner and conditioner for my pleather.

 

Lexon cleans really nice. Rather than apply the cleaner directly to the upholstery I spray it on a damp cloth. Even easy control of the product. The same with the conditioner. It dries nice with no gloss or film. I picked up a couple spray bottles from the hardware store.

 

What are your thoughts on using 303 on leather??

 

Never used it. You would have to read the ingredients. There should be no alcohol or ammonia type ingredients which dry out leather.

 

Huh? My 2021 description: "Leather-trimmed interior."

 

Its not real leather, promise you, its softtex synthetic leather.

 

I don't use 303 on anything. I've mentally downgraded it right next to Armorall products.

Lexol is what I used on ball gloves in the '60's. My boots in the '70's. Pretty good stuff.

I'm sure there are other quality products too.

We are both right and wrong. The center is synthetic, but the sections with the red stitching are genuine leather (outside, top, headrest). Says so in the manual.

 

I can guarantee you there is no real leather anywhere on the inside of our PRO's

 

Ballsy of Toyota to put that in the owners manuals and all over their website if it's not true. There's a phrase for it, in fact.

 

Some people dude. Not worth the time, lol.

 

That to me or him about me? Either way, I certainly agree. Though, arguing about the trucks interior is a refreshing change from arguing about vaccines and politics!

Chemical Guys makes a good product. I like it a little better than Lexol.
