Who has a truck gun? What are you carrying? Where do you mount it or store it?

I have a Sig 516 AR Pistol with a Romeo 4T that I'd like to keep in the truck but cant find a good spot to store it that's easily accessible.

Only on the trails. Most times I only carry a pistol...on my person to be clear.

Depending where I go and assuming it’s not hunting, I roll with a just a carbine length AR or my .458 socom variant. Sometimes my mossy 500. They’ve been everywhere from the back seat with the seats put down, to in a pelican case in the bed, with the camper shell on.

I usually don’t mount it for quick access because of my local laws and because if you have to address a problem with a rifle from the vehicle so quick you can’t get out, you’re probably going to lose that fight anyways and pistol will be probably your best bet to get into a better fighting position.

Unless you’re rolling with a well oiled fire team that can fight and maneuver a full 360.

Trucks don't need guns, people do. If you keep the gun on you, you'll have it if you ever need it. Not true if the gun is in the truck but you are not.

Just to clarify... I'm LE, carry a gun almost 100% of the time. I also live in farm country and have farm land. I carry a rifle (AR Pistol) b/c a coyote is hard to hit at 100+ yards with a handgun.

I had a overhead rack in my old ford but it would bounce around and a couple times Ive hit my head on the rack lol so placement is KEY. Ive seen some that strap to the back of the seat also.

Not sure how many firearms owners frequent the Marketplace here so I thought I'd post a link to the roof rack I just posted for sale as it pertains to this conversation:

I carried an AR-7 for several decades as my Jeep gun. The one time I needed it it felt awfully small. Though, it did provide enough of a pause that things ended well. I started looking for something with a bit more terminal effect but still small and easily packable.

I ended up using my old Moss 500 .410. I shortened the barrel, put on a youth butt stock and put the but cap on with velcro. I lengthened the stock bolt and put a sort of butter fly on it. This way I can attach and detach the stock without tools. In it's soft case it is a bit larger than the AR-7, but with slugs it's much better for two legged varmit.

    With the AR-7 for comparison.
