I have a 2019 tacoma off road. My buddies at work were talking(we're electricans) and they were talking about a grey wire mod on their older Tacoma's. Is there any way you can wire in your diff lock to come on in 2wd instead of throwing it into 4L?

The 3rd Gen has a different 4WD ECU. Wire mods don't work like they do on the older Tacos. That said, there might be some hope with OVT and vF tuner.

Stuff is just starting to develop there, so it might be a while.

Otherwise, there is the 2Lo Mod (2LM) harness:

That will get you 2Lo Locked. You'd want to be careful how much torque you send to the rear diff alone in low range.

shakerhood, Junkhead and Skydvrr like this.
