I looked at my 2012 the other day, and I noticed I have a metal line. Not sure what year they decided to change it, but i'm curious if yours has it as well.

I was in there fooling with the ac compressor the other day and can say for sure mine has the plastic line. The door sticker says the truck was built October 2011, so i must have an early 2012 model. Still not sure when they made the change. I plan to replace it with the metal one when i do the water pump in a couple months or so.

At 230k now. Time for new bushings everywhere, and new ball joints. Rag joint in steering column has been shot for awhile and the heater core is bad or the water pump is weak. Just put my second battery in yesterday. Have to check draw and make sure there's no new drain. Time for new CV joints and coilovers and shocks.

Still have two original ujoints in rear drive shaft that are still good.

Don't laugh, 2020 double cab, 4x2 2.7 auto is 3 weeks old and 466 miles.

I'm no stranger to high mileage cars, though. I had a '93 Camry wagon for 299,500 miles and sold it still running great. Recently sold a 2004 BMW 530i with over 240,000 miles and running great. Currently have a 2001 Lexus GS300 with 160,000 engine and expect to keep it for many years to come. Love that 2JZ engine.

I expect the 2.7 engine in my new Tacoma to last for a long time and for many miles with basic maintenance. I already coated parts of the undercarriage with cosmoline while it was still pristine under there.

Just bought a 2010 access cab with 70k miles. The little 2.7 runs great, especially with the 5MT.

I just sold my 09 Taco 2.7 5M.. It had 163,000 km (just over 100,000 miles) , still looked almost mint, still had the original clutch (even after towing many miles with a 2500 lb trailer. The only thing I had done was the front brake pads and rotors. Oh, I also had to replace the drivers front wheel bearing around 76,000 Km ( which was weird, the other side is still fine).. I really loved the 2.7 I installed firestone air bags and Bilstein 5100's along with the Toyo Open Country CT 10 ply tires. I could haul 1/2 yard of wet sand or a bed full of bricks in that truck with out hardly noticing. It seemed to love being loaded.. However, it just didn't like towing on the mountain highways. It was awesome towing on the steep off road grades in 4 low though. I took it up places you would find hard to believe.. ( I have a jacked up bigfoot) .. It was also a bugger backing uphill into a campsite.. or starting on a steep hill with the trailer. I had to use low range for that which was a real pain sometimes.. Especially when entering a busy road from a steep grade side road.. I had to get on the road in 4L then stop and get into 2 H and then try to get back into traffic. The 3.5 L 6A is certainly easier for that kind of activity.. Anyway..

I have 2002, 2.7L and have 337,094 miles. Needs new bumpers and tailgate, but everything runs strong. It is my daily driver, so I had to replace the clutch in 2017, had to put a new head gasket on in 2019. I change the oil every 3,000 miles. I am the second owner. Love it.

Guess I haven’t driven the truck much the past year and a half but just hit a milestone today haha. Also, yes I was driving and no I didn’t take the picture the passenger did.
