    Aloha All,
I know there are threads regarding this topic but I haven't seen anything recent. Who here changed over to a Tundra or vice versa? I know it all depends on needs and wants but who here made the change?? Regret or no looking back?

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Makes sense. A little more pricey but 3 little humans in the back is rough lol.

Yea, it's totally doable. Just looking if people had similar experiences or going through the same thing. Nothing confirmed yet. Thanks for your inputs!

I am interested in the 2021 TT V6 tundra, if it comes in a non hybrid version. Any mpg over 20 would be a big bonus over the current 5.7L V8 mpg. Hybrid would be iffy on offroad excursions thru water crossings, heavy alkali dust etc, and towing with hybrid doesn't sound like its feasable. About time toyota brought the Tundra into competition with Ford/Chev/Dodge. I have owned a long line of Tacomas over the yrs and now want easier towing for my travel trailer, and rhino SXS.

I have a 2015 tundra trd crewmax 4x4 with the 5.7L and I really enjoy the truck but there are some drawbacks mpg being one of them. There is all kinds of room inside which is nice especially for a family. And they tow very well. I have recently begun using mine as a daily driver here in the Phoenix area and I’m getting to where i don’t like driving it in the metropolitan areas it’s so big and none of the parking spaces are quite big enough. I’m averaging 14mpg but I do have 34.5” tires on mine. I have actually been contemplating going back to a Tacoma. I used to have an 2005 and I loved that thing. My biggest downfall is I have all this room etc yet I’m alone in my truck 90% of the time so the space is useless. Whenever we go somewhere as a family we take my wife suv. So that is my experience. I have owned my truck for 5 years now and it has been fantastic it has never let me down. I have done nothing other than regular maintenance. They are great vehicle you just have to decide what your purpose is for it. If it’s hauling people or gear or trailers tundra is your guy.

I had a 2015 Tundra which I loved for the horsepower but switched to the Tacoma which is a bit smaller for taking camping. I do miss the space so considering getting another Tundra.

My ownership has been all over the place for the last decade. I went from an FJ > Tacoma > 4Runner > Tacoma > Tundra. I missed the FJ when I went to the Tacoma. I missed the 4runner when I went to the Tacoma. The only reason I got a 2nd Tacoma was because the first was always breaking down. Having had all of those I love the Tundra and the FJ the most. Going to the Tundra from the Tacoma was the first time I had traded and didnt miss the last vehicle. Power, room, comfort, if you can deal with a couple less MPG and a bigger body, the Tundra is worth it.

Guess I am the odd man out. I do have both and find myself most times in the Tacoma. Both are 4 wheel drive the Tacoma is a manual where the Tundra is a push button and automatic tranny as well. I am not kind to my trucks as I trap out of them on deer leases with 2 tracks instead of smooth roads. The Tacoma weighing less lets it go places the Tundra will spin down. Wider more aggressive tires would help I am sure. The 2 point turn arounds verses 4 or 5 is another factor. Just another angle to see it from.

I traded my 2017 Tacoma for a 2019 Tundra TRD Sport. The Tundra is a great truck and if you have kids, the space in the crewmax would be a huge benefit. I traded, more or less, because I wanted a change of pace with the full size. No kids here, but the dog seems to like all the space in the back seat lol. The Tundra is big, super comfortable, and the 5.7 V8 is great.

With that being said, there are some drawbacks. It's big, so parking is always a hassle unless you park way away from everyone, which I do whenever possible. At work though, I don't really have that option, so I park where I can. Some days it's not so bad and other days it's a nightmare. Urban areas with narrow streets and parking garages are also no fun.

It's also a gas hog. I'm averaging about 14 mpg in the Tundra. My Tacoma wasn't much better, but out on the highway it could get decent numbers. In the end, it comes down to what a person wants/needs out of their vehicle. I wanted a full size, so I got a Tundra. If you need the extra space or towing capacity, the Tundra is a great and reliable truck. I'm enjoying mine, but I think the Tacoma is a better daily driver. There's a good chance I'll end up in another Tacoma at some point down the road, but right now I'm enjoying the room and that V8.

Is that thing even going to come to reality? I've been checking daily but all i've seen announced is this 'Midnight edition' bs. I'm currently selling my Taco to buy a Tundra and if this one is coming out like they've been saying i'm going that route..

Traded in my 19 Tacoma for a 20 Tundra.

Sucks more gas, but I have an 8 mile commute and don't care.

Way more room. easier to get kids in and out. I can change back there if I need to.

Way less storage. That was something that surprised me. Almost no storage, have to pay to add it.

Build quality seems a little less than the Tacoma. There are some spots that irk me.

That being said been happy with the Tundra.

I've been playing around in my 19 Pro Tundra and have actually managed to get a consistent 16-16.5mpg on the way to and from work. Basically just cruise locked at 60 on highway and 40 on the city streets to work. Doesnt seem like much but my MT Tacoma, stock, was getting 17mpg doing the same thing.

Check out ESP Truck for storage solutions, should be able to get close the same amount as the Taco with their bins.

Luckily for me the build of my Tundra has been substantially better than my Taco. Nothing wrong with 8k on the clock. By the time I had hit 8k with the Taco the rear window slider was rattling, rear diff howling, and the clutch pedal sounded like one of those groaning slide tube toys.

From today, its possible if you're patient. This is cruising at 65, with a couple full throttle blips here and there.

I searched for this thing for 6 months. Was about ready to give up. Not a lot out there in that config I guess.
I test drove a Pro inferno, hated the dual exhaust, wasnt a fan of the 20” the rims with the dirt rd I live down and offroading I do when going to flying sites (mountain crawls) but it sure was pretty with all that color keyed stuff.. Needed the OR. The chrome delete is my first order of business.
