I was gonna say, "and turn your light weight 5-lug frame into a pretzel the first time you mat the gas."

It's the same frame as a 6 lug lol just different suspension mounts. Besides part of the swap is to plate the frame.

I hear ya. Although seeing those sand rails out at Citrus that one time, if I had the money and a spider-free garage to park it in, I wouldn't mind having a street legal rock buggy, as long as it had a lid, a windshield, and a muffler...and the air-conditioner out of a big van or something with a 4" duct blowing right at me full force, lol.

6.5 Creedmoor impressions. I decided I needed to get out of the house today so I loaded up my rifle and range gear and went to Shooter's World's Indoor 100 yrds range to sight in the scope with factory ammo. I kinda hate using that range for rifles since I always feel rushed. Anyway, I got the rifle sighted in and fired a total of 39 rounds.

In the process, I discovered I have practically no free bore. It was chambering 120gr Federal factory rounds so deep into the lands that when I attempted to eject a live round, it pulled the bullet out of the case and sent the powder charge everywhere. And unfortunately I didn't bring my cleaning rod. I had to commit a cardinal sin against a precision rifle by using the range officer's steel rod to slide down the bore to push the bullet out. First time that bore has ever had anything down it other than bullets or a coated cleaning rod with a bronze brush. I'm guessing throat erosion is not going to be a problem for me...ever. The barrel will reach the end of it's effective life before the throat erodes beyond a safe bullet seating depth. Honestly, I'm going to contact the gunsmith and find out if this was intentional or if it might be an oversight because it's rather concerning that it's seating 120gr factory loads into the rifling. It's not going to give me a lot of room for seating 130s and 140s without the boat tail protruding into the case body.

As far as recoil goes, and I usually find factory loads to be a little on the hot side of what I normally get out of my hand loads, it was a lot more mild than I expected and the muzzle blast from the brake didn't seem terrible to me, behind the rifle, but I guess if you were shooting beside me, YMMV. I was shooting free recoil (where my shoulder was just barely resting against the butt without leaning into it so the rifle could ride the bags without interference and while I can tell I was shooting, I'm not sore and I don't have any ruptured capillaries like I got from my shotgun. My back hurts worse from hauling all the range gear. I would imagine after 50 or 60 rounds, I might start to get a little tender, or even after shooting 140gr hot loads it might get sore, but it seems like the muzzle brake along with the slide-on gel recoil butt sock is doing it's job.

Other than that, there was nothing impressive about the grouping of cheap factory ammo and I didn't expect there to be. I just needed to get it close to the center of the target to begin precision load development.
