What crossbars are you running and how did you mount the rack? Looks like a Tomahawk or Brassknuckles. Just curious to see what other people are using...

Can anyone recommend a good hitch mount rack that isn't over $300 and won't scratch up or beat the heck out of a MTB? Everything on Amazon has great as well as terrible reviews and companies like 1UP just seem outrageously high...

There's a reason that 1up racks are expensive... They are high quality and don't rattle, sway, or just plan break during "normal" use like most others that are made of cheap metal and plastic.

My 1up was on a friends Subaru when she was rear-ended. It drug on the freeway for a bit while she slowed down to pull over and get the other persons info. Her insurance bought her a new one and didn't want the old one, so she gave it to me. $8 later (new zinc plated bolt, washer and nut) later, I have a rack that I just had to touch up with a file and it's been on my truck for 4 years now with no issues. Say that about a Thule/Yakima/Kuat/Hollywood/cheap-Amazon-knockoff.

The near 600 dollar buy in price for the HD 2 bike rack is a bit steep I think honestly. If the price was closer to $400 with the reviews I see I could possibly eat the price but for something that'll get used probably twice a week for 7 months at most at their price just seems excessive.

Well, as always, you get what you pay for. I started with a Thule, used a Kuat for a while, now have a 1UP. The 1UP is the best by far, and not a huge difference in price. I wouldn't go any cheaper than a Thule or Yakima.

It does seem high. I thought so too at first. Until I saw one then I realized why. Nothing compares. I went through three racks before buying the 1UP, and it would have been cheaper if I had just bought that one first. I agree with @jmauvais I’d go with Rockymounts. I had their monorail and it was better than the Thule I sold to get that one. I only sold it because I didn’t need a 2 bike set up, so I bought the single 1UP.

Hi all, just bought myself the Santa Cruz 2020 Hightower and wanted to see how people are mounting the front fork to front rail or even the leitner rack bar up top. I tried to use the search function but nothing popped up. Thanks in advance!
