So this appears to be the SOS Lowering kit thread. Has anyone else experienced a drive line vibration after install? I get a mild shudder at about 20 mph with a fairly normal throttle. It might even be present at about 60 mph but not sure about that. I know there are drive shaft angles to consider given the rear went down an extra 1.5" but I've never run into this before. Anyone?

I don't have any problems . Call Tom at Sos . The kit suppose to have correct angle built in IIRC

That was my understanding too. One of the rear wheels was 1/4-3/8 further back than the other. I took some time last night to loosen the shackle, hanger and axle mount bolts and made sure my rear end was squared up and re-torqued. I managed to get them within a 1/16" but I'm not sure if that was the problem. I'll test drive it today I know one other user had the same issue. Other than the vibration the thing rides great and handles better. Hopefully I can get this figured out.

So trying to sort this out before I pull it apart and either try some shims or abandon ship. The leaf spring pin nut inserts into the lower plate. What I didn't realize is that there are two holes in the lower plate. I don't even remember noticing that when installing. The pic shows that I have the nut in the hole toward the front of the truck. Does anyone know if this is correct?

It should be in the hole that moves the axle towards the rear of the truck. Its to increase the wheel base ever so slightly to compensate for the now "longer" driveshaft due to lowering.

edit- nvm the picture is of the lower plate, which doesn't affect the axle position. However, the axle perch has the hole offset to the rear of the truck.

If I relocate the pin to the rear hole on the bracket that would move the axle back correct? Having a hard time seeing in my head. thanks

However, the hole in the axle perch should be offset to the rear of the truck, but I don't think you can put it on backwards. Not sure what could be wrong. Sorry if I confused you. have you tried contacting Tom at SOS? Super helpful guy

Yes...got an email in to Tom. Its been a week since I installed so I'm not even sure you can install it wrong. I'm just confused as to why, if its installed correct, do I have pinion angle issues. One of the other TW members had a similar issue but most do not. Thanks for the help.

Still waiting on a response from SOS. So where is the vibration coming from? The carrier bearing? The rear u-joint? If I was going to try shims can anyone tell me where and which way the shims go? Between the spring and lower plate or between the perch and the spring? And which direction? Point to the front or back? Wonder if I should go get an angle finder and do some measurements first.

Before this lowering thing all started I was planning on selling the truck but couldn't resist installing the kit I'd had on my shelf for over a year. I tried it, I liked it and even though I had a few issues I still think the truck rode and handled better. But I've put the truck back to stock and going to sell the SOS kit. Anyone interested you can message me or email me at 7pilks@gmail.com. Asking $225 shipped.
