Any ideas on how to sell the brand new (just drove off the lot last week) tires? I put it up on craigslist, but not getting any bites.
265/70R16 Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar. I set it at $500 for 4, which it looks like they sell for $180 a piece so that's a good deal for someone wanting those right?

Grille came in, grille conquered! Not disappointed.

No automotive experience here, just followed a couple YT vids. No problem.

Got some Bubba Rope (for recovery). Went with the 'Renegade' 20-ft rated at 19,000lbs which is plenty for a 4,400lb truck - even if it's 5,000lbs by the time I have the things I want on it that's still over the 3.5x weight recommendation.
    rope.jpg

Light, easy to stow in its bag, just stuffed it behind the drivers side back seat. Couple synthetic shackles also by the same guys.

A winch is something I'm eyeing for the future, but it's pretty far down on the list. I'll pretty much always be with other friends, so having a quality and safe recovery strap is good for now.

    ...stuff
problem is they aren’t brand new. Even if you swapped them out at the dealer... they are still used tires. Try $400, I sold mine “brand new” for 350 after asking for 400. People aren’t really out buying stuff right now either, so you have to be patient.

I think I'm going to grab some new tires today. I'm going w/ the Cooper S/T Maxx's. My brother in law has them on his taco and swears by them, I like they way they look, and the reviews on them are stellar.

Will get some 265/75R16 (1" larger than the stock 265/70's) and from everything I've read is the largest you can go on stock suspension without any rubbing and such.

Of course I love the increased ground clearence - thus off road capability, but the main reason I'm doing this particular tire is for the looks. I love the beefier tread, and sidewall. Sexy.

If I was doing the tire upgrade purely for max off roading capacity, I would skip this 'baby step' up to 265/75's, and step right into the 285 world and modified suspension. I'm not ready for that right now.

I looked into doing the skinny tire thing. While we're on the topic, if you had me choose between a wide tire with some negative offset on a truck, and a more 'overlanding' looking skinny tire with cool tread - I'd pick the skinny every single time. That's the look I prefer.

So why am I not doing a 235 or 255 at ~32" ? Well, honestly because I do not want to sacrafice ANY on road safety, and I'm afraid the skinny tires would provide longer stopping distances when wet, and bring an increased rollover risk when cornering.

Otherwise I'd be on the skinny train in a heartbeat. And hey, I'm no expert - I do my research obsessively, but still, I could be wrong. For now my plan is to go w/ a more 'tried and true' play, and not rock the boat. Lord willin' i've got more years to consider the skinny route!

If you’re worried about rollover you should stick to stock size tires...

Stock SR and SR5 come with 245s. Running a 255 is no problem. ST Maxx in 255/85/16 fits stock suspension with no rub on stock rims and is a 33”. Do some reading before you pull the trigger.

Yeah, if they weren't out of stock of everything I would have done some business with them! Maybe in the future.

He’s right. Stew has some good quality MGM finished products. I bought the push button/4wd bezel trim kit along with the A/C vent trim kit in MGM color. Look closely and you can see the little coin container with the TRD embossed in the lid. These are nice touches if you prefer to not have chrome inside the cab.

So it turns out NTB broke 2 of my TPMS sensors installing my new Coopers... the aftermarket sensors they put in don't work w/ newer Tacomas (2018 and up as I understand it). So I'm back to the Toyota dealership with a $550 bill for 2 sensors and labor. NTB says they'll reimburse me, but the whole thing feels sketch.

Do you guys find it best to stick with dealership for everything with new(er) vehicles?

Better yet, anyone know a great shop to call home in Nashville?

Yes, I would recommend sticking with Toyota dealerships unless you have a trustworthy mechanic. More times than not tire shops have the lowest bid sensors, and you have learned that first hand. Odd though that NTB was the tire shop with the bad tpms. It happens though. While turning my drums a brake company cross threaded my lugs with an impact reinstalling my tires...idiot tried to cover it up but I caught him and called him out for on it. They didn’t have my lugs in stock (imagine that) so I had to take it to the dealership to get fixed and the brake company reimbursed me even though it felt a bit sketchy as well. Good luck with the situation.

I think this bed mat is a must. Not only the protection, but the grip it has to keep stuff from slidin' around is great.

Got the Bakflip MX4 bed cover. Installation was kind of hard! Way harder than changing the grille and wiring its lights.

I can see light in both corners closest to the cab, so I need to keep tinkering with the fit and weatherstripping up there.

Other than that I'm happy with the look and functionality.

Today I'm continuing on my journey to remove light and shiny things, and painting the rear chrome bumper caps.

If it turns out poorly, I'll buy some of the covers readily available. I'll replace the entire rear bumper eventually anyways.

Removed them, sanded, now lightly applied a textured khaki colored truck bed spray. Next I'll hit it with a few coats of black bed spray.

Boy does the truck look better! I'm not one of those guys obsessed with any and every piece of chrome - but this is a much better look IMHO.

Three coats of black on top of the textured, reinstall, and we're good to go.
